A battery light doesn't always mean a bad battery.
It's an easy assumption to make, you see a battery shaped warning light. so naturally you think bad battery
But that light is really warning you that your vehicle’s charging system isn't operating like it should. While the battery helps get everything started, once the engine is running, the alternator supplies power to the vehicle and keeps that battery charged.
That's why replacing the battery doesn't always make that little red light disappear.
For this Honda Odyssey, we tested the charging system and alternator output and found the real culprit: a failed alternator.
Warning lights give us a place to start but the proper testing tells us what actually needs to be replaced.
Diagnose first. Replace second.
