What a whirlwind of a ride these last 14 days have been, and it just shows what magic can happen when your back is against the wall.
On Wednesday, October 7th, we received our freshly built motor for our GSX-8R back and had our sights set on racing at Daytona. On the 8th, the motor was installed, broken in properly, and then put on the dyno. At about 11 am, the bike died - an absolute killer for our hopes and mood. On the 9th, we determined we would pull the motor out and begin damage assessment and found a failed rod bearing... We called up our good friend, Jason Karns, knowing he was coming down for the races, and by the luck of the draw, he lent a huge helping hand. On Tuesday the 13th, he arrived late evening and immediately began rebuilding our motor. By Wednesday the 14th, the motor was ready and reinstalled. On the 15th, it was time to make a decision: do we risk it and race, or do we call it and play it safe? There's no glory for quitters here, so we threw all efforts into bike prep, put it on the dyno, tuned it, and sped over to Daytona to set up. Friday the 16th was race day. Knowing the bike wasn't set up 100% the way we wanted it, we had high hopes, medium expectations, and just wanted to have a safe and fun weekend and come home. Isaac Woodworth and Andrew Weyh had a different idea and worked their magic to a FIRST PLACE FINISH!!!
This was a true masterclass in a full team effort and not giving up even when all odds are stacked against you. This was a win for everyone, but mostly for our company owner, race team president, the guy you all know and love, and the one whose vision we chase after in everything we do. Bart Rogowski, this first-place finish is all yours!
Special thanks to our sponsors and all the help we received this season, but especially in these last two weeks.
