Did you know road salt doesn't just rust your car's body - it goes after your brakes too?

Winter conditions can damage brake pads and rotors through corrosion, and brake lines and calipers can develop rust or leaks from exposure to salt and moisture. The sneaky part? Brake wear from a New Hampshire winter often looks fine on the surface but hides serious corrosion underneath.

Signs to listen for include squeaks, grinding, or clicking noises indicating worn brake pads, and vibrations or delayed braking response that may suggest rotor warping.

Your brakes took a beating this winter. Call us at 463-7177 for a brake inspection and make sure you're stopping safely!

Raise your hand if you've ever turned on your vehicle's AC for the first time in spring - and heard something weird.

Your air conditioning system has been dormant all winter, and it's one of the most neglected parts of a vehicle. If you hear the compressor quickly clicking on and off, that indicates low refrigerant, a sign your system needs attention before the heat hits.

April is National Car Care Month, making it the perfect time to get ahead of warm weather. Don't wait for that first 90-degree day to find out your AC is shot! Give us a call at 463-7177 and we can inspect your AC system before the summer rush.

Do you remember the last time you changed your car's air filter?

Spring brings an increase in pollen, dust, and other particles that can quickly clog air filters, making cabin air quality noticeably worse, especially for allergy sufferers. A clean cabin air filter provides better air quality inside your vehicle and improves heating and cooling efficiency.

Your car's doing its best to filter out the particles you don't want to breathe in, but give it a little help this allergy season!

Ask Pete's to check your cabin air filter; if it's overdue for replacement, it's a quick swap that makes a real difference. Call us today! 463-7177

That pothole you just hit? It might have done more damage than you think and you won't feel it right away.

Hitting a pothole incorrectly can damage the structural parts of your tire, creating a bubble or gash in the sidewall and those don't always show up until the tire fails at highway speed. Beyond tires, potholes can knock your wheels out of alignment, bend rims, and damage your suspension; all things that get worse (and more expensive) the longer they go unchecked.

New Hampshire roads in March can be obstacle courses.

Think you hit something nasty this winter? Let us take a look before a small problem becomes a big one. Give us a call at 463-7177!

What actually matters in a winter emergency kit?

Forget the fancy gadgets. Here's what really helps if you're stranded:

- Blankets or sleeping bag (hypothermia is the real danger)
- Flashlight with extra batteries
- Kitty litter or sand (for traction under stuck tires)
- Ice scraper, snow brush, and shovel
- Jumper cables
- Charged phone and car charger
- First aid kit
- Non-perishable food and water

Breakdowns happen. Being prepared for the cold makes all the difference. Before winter roads get worse, make sure your vehicle is reliable. Call us for a winter safety check! 463-7177

New Hampshire state inspections are here to stay for now.

"McCafferty said in her ruling that both sides in the case agree that the state would be in violation of the federal Clean Air Act if it were to abolish the program without approval of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency."

Still warming up your car for 10 minutes every morning?

Modern fuel-injected engines (basically everything made after 1990) only need 30 seconds to a minute before driving, even in freezing temperatures!

Idling for long periods wastes gas, creates more emissions, and can damage your engine by washing oil off cylinder walls. The fastest way to warm up? Gentle driving for the first few miles. Who knew?

Keep your engine running smoothly with regular oil changes at Pete's. Call us today! 463-7177
