When my dad ran the shop, everything was handwritten. Inspection notes, repair orders, all of it on paper. If his handwriting was hard to read, someone had to stop what they were doing, walk out onto the floor, and ask him what he meant. Parts got ordered wrong sometimes, or incomplete, because details got lost somewhere between the clipboard and the counter.
That's just how shops ran back then. And for decades that paper system was good enough to get it done.
But every one of those little hiccups, every unclear note, every trip back to the shop floor, stole a few minutes from what actually matters: YOU.
These days we run things differently. I incorporated a system called Tekmetric that keeps everything organized and gives us those minutes back. Instead of chasing down information, we get to focus on the people walking through our doors - the ones who are anxious, overwhelmed, or just plain skeptical of mechanics, helping them leave feeling informed, respected, and confident.
I'm working hard to build the shop for people who hate going to the mechanic.
I'm doing that by adopting the latest technology for easy booking, honest updates through text and phone, sending digital reports with photos and videos so you can see the work yourself, and everything on a first-name, handshake basis.
My dad taught me that the relationship always comes first. We just have better tools now to make sure it does.
