People are jealous of what you have.
But, they are not jealous of what it took to get what you have.

Why is that?
Well, as with most self employed, entrepreneur, driven folks….the “hard” is hidden from your eyes.
You might drive down the road and feel envy over the bright green machinery, idling up and down the rows. You admire beautiful cattle out on pasture. You see the flashy and fancy business store fronts. You might even stand next to a well dressed, perfectly manicured person, and feel the twinge of green envy because it seems like they have it all.

What you never see is the struggle, the stress and worry, and the plain and simple truth that is bearing an unseeable weight, that an owner must carry, at all times.
There is no “checking out” at 5pm on any day.
Not even Sunday.

Maybe that is why writing about agriculture is so important to me, and so many others. For so long, the shiny and rosy representation on TV has made it look like a whole lot of rainbows and sunshine. And it is, until it isn’t.

People say they want what we have.
But if there is going to be a way forward for our industry, we have to sell the rainbows and sunshine with a side helping of truth, transparency, and real.

Because even the most dedicated, hard working, entrepreneurial and inspired people…have days where they “don’t want to.”

What happens next, is what separates the “haves” from the “have not.”

This guy here… I just found out this morning in time to attend. Paul was an amazing talented guitarists. I was fortunate enough to get to hear him play at his home. He would eat at ‘Lil Fish Tail ‘LIL FISH TAIL , but never would play. We would always talk about music and his belief in God. Thank you Paul and we will miss you!🙏
