SUNDAY morning 10 AM service call to the rest area on 80, Driver complained that the brakes were locked up on the trailer. Somebody from the travel Plaza was driving through and was giving the brakes a hit with a hammer. I showed the driver you just need to look down at the slack adjuster. As you can see, they’re pushed out a way for the axle housing; so applying a hammer to the drums are not going to release the brakes. There’s was no need to do that. A few minutes of diagnostics we find the trailer valve on the service side for the ABS is bad and applying air when it should not be. We were able to temporarily get the trailer rolling to get it back to the shop for repairs. The ABS valve is a little expensive so companies don’t normally stock it. But Monson's yet again had this part in stock. As we were able to change the valve, I noticed the line was contamination and ice, and followed the problem backed up to a cracked fitting by the drive tires on the trailer. When the brakes weren't being applied the drive tires of the truck were throwing the dirt, rain, and salt up toward the crack leaking into the line sending the foreign material back to the valve. We cleared the lines out and repaired the fitting upfront. This is where the "RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD" - this is why using more experience technicians will save you headaches down the road. Normally, the valve would’ve been replaced and down the road it went until a little ways longer when it happens all over again. Here at Monson’s we’re working hard for you. Sunday afternoon received another call from a gentleman who needs an airbag. With confidence, we said no problem we carry airbags in stock along with over half-million dollars in inventory. We changed the airbag so quickly that we had time to repair the left turn signal on his trailer and his headlight on the right front.

There was a call that came in on a Saturday afternoon, they were located at the TA, called and reported that their right front axle hanger has broken free and had moved back. It will require putting back in place and welding, along with alignment. This is what sets Monson apart from the rest, where else can you go to get road service, in-shop Service, professional welding, and alignment, and be out the door Sunday morning. Buck Monson the owner, has devoted most of his life doing just this.
