Got the ‘49 Indian tins in color last weekend. Pretty darn good color match in Garnet red. Only 24 factory race bikes came in this color. The standard production bikes where a traditional orange red

Fall & winter time the shop slows down so now I take on Long term projects. Beginning with a restoration of a 1949 Indian Warrior. handed to to me as a basket case. which is a big no no in our line of work but this is a very rare bike and a hell of a good guy. Found out parts are missing and of course the customer says no it was all there/ and thats why we dont accept bikes torn down by people. anyhow- here we go. starting with media blasting & powdercoating the frame & steering neck. while thats being done- im onto the fuel tank and oil tank. Cleaning out rust inside and sealing then stripping & prepping for paint.

yuk! no wonder! 3 out of 4 pistons stuck with corrosion. when they are this bad - total teardown & thorough cleaning is necassary , including the master cylinder.

Brake work on this immaculate Deluxe. protective covers & painters tape should allways be used to prevent any nicks or scratches.

Another Bike done: Honda VTX1300 came in ; non running- diagnosis: fuel pump. Honda engineers should be fired! To change the fuel pump required removing the rear wheel to access the rear shock, to make room to remove the massive fuel pump. Battery & tray needed removal also to access the 2 mounting bolts.
