Today was a humbling and overly emotional day.
I was given the most amazing opportunity to speak at the Walmart Summit for Equity in Entrepreneurship on a panel of current suppliers to current and prospective suppliers. If someone would have told me that during my career I would be given such an opportunity, I would have said βIn my dreams.β
After 12 years with Best Ride on Cars and being the CEO of almost 4 years I cannot express the feeling I had walking into this auditorium on the other side as a current supplier. After 12 years of hard work I was able to text my family, βWe made it!!β
Being able to sit in front of prospective suppliers with the same dreams as I once had and being able to offer even an ounce of support or strategic advice feels so overwhelming, but also moved that Walmart believes I have something to offer. Thank you to Jose (Joey) Huerta and Brittany Smith, MBA, LSSBB for having me on the panel and this opportunity.
My journey with Walmart was one that has tested every level of patience and hustle I could imagine, but as my parents have said β nothing in life is given to you, it is earned, and when you work for it then you value it. Donβt forget the hustle, the thirst, the grit, that is what will take you further than you will ever know.β
So here I am, Shannon Adam, CEO of a women and minority owned company, a current Walmart and Sam's Club diverse supplier, but what this also means is that I created not only a business, but a legacy for my kids, for their future!
To my entire team at Best Ride on Cars, you are my reflection and without you I would not be able to push as hard as I do. I thank you with everything I have.
Alex Damanwalla, my husband and Co-Founder thank you for having the beautiful dream of Best Ride on Cars and believing that I can do this.
Thank you Walmart and Sam's Club, you made this pipe dream become a reality by being our hope!
