New tech guide: Grenadier electrical outputs & accessory loads

https://dvamechanics.com/blogs/grenadier/everything-you-need-to-know-about-power-cables-for-off-road-builds?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=group&utm_campaign=power_cables_off_road_builds

A full breakdown of the Grenadier's auxiliary power system and how to pick the right cable for it:

- The complete 7-circuit map (EXT1–EXT5, INT1, INT2) with location, connector type, and fuse rating for each
- Why EXT2 and EXT3 behave differently: EXT2 is a dedicated 25A port, EXT3 runs three roof ports on one shared 25A circuit, so all three toggle together
- Photos of where every port physically lives, including the under-hood bare wires and both footwell circuits
- AWG sizing by actual draw: 16 AWG for Starlink Mini and LED pods, 14 AWG for a compressor fridge, plus voltage-drop math for longer runs
- The six DTP cable types and when each one makes sense
- How to run several accessories off the roof ports with individual switching, and how to budget current so you don't trip the 25A fuse
- Five install mistakes we see most often: polarity on DIY builds, open-barrel pins, no strain relief, missing sealing plugs, overloading EXT3
- A bonus section on direct battery feeds: fusing at the source, relays vs contactors, and why the jump terminal isn't an accessory stud

We did our best to gather as much useful information as possible. Don't hesitate to add more details, especially if you have information on RHD Grenadiers.

If you've been going back and forth between the factory gutter-clamp bars and our DualTrack, we finally put the whole comparison in one place, numbers included.

The short version:

OEM gutter-clamp bars clamp to the rain gutter, so you can slide them anywhere along the roofline. 198 lb dynamic / 795 lb static on the 2-bar kit. They also sit about 3.5" above the roof, which you'll hear at highway speed and feel in a 7-foot garage.

DualTrack bolts to the factory roof attachment points. Roughly 1" of profile, dual-row L-Track built into every bar, 6061-T6 extrusion, 5 lb per bar, no drilling and fully reversible. The 4-bar kit runs 200 lb dynamic / 400 lb static, so it matches the OEM 2-bar dynamic rating at a similar price with twice the bars.

The article also covers stiffness under load (100 lb up top through Moab, no issues), install notes from early adopters, 2-bar vs 4-bar selection, and the garage clearance math.

One owner running both systems summed it up better than we could: "I use the OEM for large loads. I leave the DVA on all the time."

Grenadier crossbars: OEM gutter-clamp vs DVA DualTrack™ vs platform racks. Load ratings, install methods, garage height math, and what owners run.

The DualTrack-T™ MAX runs dual-row L-Track and 25mm T-Slot in a single low-profile extrusion — so whatever’s already in your kit bolts straight on.

L-Track for your Starlink, tie-downs, and recovery gear. 25mm T-Slot for awnings, roof top tent, solar, and cargo boxes. Both channels, full length of the bar, mount anywhere you need.

No hunting for adapters that fit “close enough.”
Just pick your spot and torque it down. 🔧

Built for the INEOS Grenadier Wagon & Quartermaster.
