It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of our colleague and friend, Detective James Blackwell. James passed away on Saturday at his home unexpectedly from a medical episode. James was a dedicated peace officer to his community and served over 24 years in law enforcement.

As we reflect on this tragic news, let us keep his family in our thoughts and prayers. In these moments of grief, we find solace in scripture and share the words from Psalm 34:18 - The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

The service will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Fellowship of Montgomery, located at 12681 FM 149, Montgomery, Texas. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The service will be streamed on our social media channels for those unable to attend.

Shopping for a new fully electric vehicle?
The cost of registering fully electric vehicles in Texas increased September 1, 2023. Senate Bill 505, passed by the Texas Legislature during the 88th Regular Session, adds a $400 fee at the time of new electric vehicle purchases for the initial two-year registration period, and a $200 annual fee for electric vehicle registration renewals each year thereafter.
The new fee is in addition to standard vehicle registration fees and any tax otherwise due for the vehicle and does not apply to hybrid gasoline-electric vehicles.
Purchases of fully electric vehicles in Texas completed before September 1, 2023, were not be subject to the fee, which will be due at the time of registration renewal in 2025.
