Whoever thought grey could look so good?
These are the results from this brilliant grey Audi S3 after receiving a 2 stage paint correction, and DPC T6+, a 6 year duration titanium ceramic coating as part of Fidelity Detailings’ Titanium Coating Package
T6+ from DPC is a variation on ceramic coatings, with the main ingredient being Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) instead of Silicon Dioxide (SiO2). This gives the T6+ coating superior water beading capabilities over regular ceramic coatings that use silicon dioxide as their main ingredient.
DPC sent their new coatings to 2 separate and independent laboratories to undergo testing, and backup their claims of “9h hardness”, and the durability claims of 3, 6, and 9 years. The tests came back overwhelmingly positive, and the ratings, and claims by DPC were actually underrated instead of overrated.
A bit more on the reality of ceramic coatings:
A lot of marketing surrounding the term “ceramic coating” will lead you to believe that once a ceramic coating is applied to a car, it makes said car completely invincible. This is simply not the case, and it never will be. A good way I’d describe a ceramic coating is as an extra clear coat on your vehicles’ paintwork that happens to be 3 times harder, and chemical resistant. Once cured, a ceramic coating is about 2-3 mils thick, and the factory clear coat on most vehicles is also 2-3 mils thick. That is why this extra layer of protection that’s equal in thickness to the clear coat, as well as three times harder will help protect your vehicles’ paintwork. It won’t make it invincible, it’s just a protective layer with all the attiributes listed above that also happens to make your car look like it’s wet and shiny all the time.
