Our Toprank Japan R34 GT-R demo car is now available at Toprank Importers. Offered at $175,000

This is not simply an R34 with a few bolt on modifications. It was built, serviced and developed as a complete package, with attention given to the engine, turbochargers, fuel system, cooling, drivetrain, suspension and brakes.

The RB26DETT received a complete engine overhaul, including cylinder deck resurfacing and cylinder honing. New piston rings, bearings, oil jets, seals, O rings, gaskets and other internal service parts were installed.

Several important RB26 reliability areas were addressed during the build. The engine received a Reimax billet oil pump rotor, Reimax high flow water pump, NISMO timing belt, new tensioner and pulley components, accessory belts, crankshaft seals and camshaft seals.

The valvetrain features original Toprank Japan TOPCAM 268 degree, 8.7mm lift camshafts designed by Sato, along with Tomei adjustable cam gears.

Boost comes from a pair of GCG XTR2860GTR-11 bolt on turbochargers. Supporting components include RSE turbine outlets, an HKS R Type intercooler, GReddy intercooler piping and a Trust intake and suction kit.

The fuel system uses SARD 550cc injectors, a SARD 295 L/h fuel pump, upgraded fuel pump harness, Tomei adjustable fuel pressure regulator and Tomei fuel pressure gauge.

Engine management is handled by a LINK NGTRX Plug in ECU with an HKS crank angle sensor, AEM air fuel ratio gauge and NFP2 pressure sensor.

The ignition system has been converted to genuine Nissan R35 GT-R coils using a Juratec adapter and reinforced coil harness, along with HKS spark plugs.

Cooling upgrades include an HPI 40mm aluminum radiator, HPI 13 row air cooled oil cooler, upgraded oil cooler hoses, replacement thermostat and replacement fan coupling. Juratec cooling and radiator panels help direct airflow through the heat exchangers.

Power is transferred through a NISMO Super Coppermix Twin clutch. The clutch master cylinder was replaced during the service work, and NISMO engine mounts support the RB26.

The suspension is built around Öhlins DFV coilovers with pillow ball upper mounts. The chassis also received SuperPro polyurethane bushings, NISMO rear A arms, NISMO rear upper control arms, replacement suspension links and replacement ball joints.

Braking upgrades include Project Mu HC+ front and rear pads, Dixcel FC rotors, Juratec front brake conversion brackets and stainless braided brake lines.

The car sits on 18 inch Volk Racing TE37 SL wheels with 265/35R18 Yokohama Advan Neova AD09 tires.

The Sparkling Silver exterior features genuine NISMO Z tune components, including the front bumper, front diffuser, front fenders and rear fenders. It also has NISMO carbon B pillar garnishes, NISMO turn signals, Juratec rear spoiler stays and restored headlights.

Inside, the car retains its recognizable R34 character while adding an ATC Sprint steering wheel and NISMO seat covers.

We get a lot of questions about importing a “track car,” “race car,” “time attack car,” “drift car,” or “off-road only car” into the United States. Those enthusiast terms do not necessarily describe the vehicle’s legal status.

A car you intend to use only at track days may still be a motor vehicle under federal law if it was manufactured primarily for public-road use. Calling it a track car, removing the interior, or installing a cage does not change what it was originally manufactured to be.

A genuine racing vehicle may qualify for temporary competition entry or, in narrower cases, permanent race-only importation. The vehicle, its history, its construction, and the supporting documents all have to match the declaration.

Every vehicle import has three federal components:

NHTSA / DOT — safety, FMVSS, HS-7 declarations, and vehicle eligibility.
EPA — emissions, EPA Form 3520-1, exclusions, approvals, and restrictions.
CBP / U.S. Customs — entry, enforcement, duty, forms, and whether the paperwork actually supports the import.
Getting a vehicle physically unloaded at a U.S. port is not the same as importing it correctly. The difficult part is using the right legal basis, obtaining required approvals before shipment, and creating a file that will survive later review.

The Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 represents the final evolution of the legendary RB26-powered GT-R before the R35 took over. Built from 1999 to 2002, the R34 GT-R is one of the most sought-after Japanese performance cars in the world. Thanks to the 25-year import rule, more R34 GT-Rs are becoming fully legal for import to the U.S.—but buying one requires knowledge and caution. This guide covers everything you need to know before buying or importing an R34 GT-R.

Where Can I Buy Parts for My JDM Car? Nissan Skyline Parts, Shared Parts & Parts Crossover

One of the first questions people ask after buying a Nissan Skyline, Nissan Silvia, Toyota Chaser, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Honda Beat, Suzuki Cappuccino, or any other imported Japanese car is pretty simple:

Where do I buy parts for this thing?

The real answer is: everywhere, nowhere, Japan, eBay, Nissan, your local parts store, specialist importers, old stock shelves, and sometimes from a guy who has three of them in a box under a bench. Welcome to JDM car ownership.

There are a lot of parts on JDM vehicles that are unique. Some parts are special to that chassis. Some parts are discontinued or no longer available. Some parts have been superseded. Some parts were shared with five other Nissan models and are sitting at a local auto parts store under a completely normal US-market application.

That is where parts-bin sharing, Nissan FAST, part numbers, cross references, and a little bit of detective work become important.

Using Parts Master in Nissan FAST
In Nissan FAST, if you go to Parts Master and input a part number like 16400-72L00, it can show you the vehicles that use that same part.

That is huge when you are trying to figure out whether something is JDM-only, shared with a US car, or used across a bunch of Nissan platforms.

Another Example: Holden Ute Air Filter Uses a Nissan-Style Filter
When a Holden Commodore Ute came through, I pulled the panel air filter out to inspect it. It looked really familiar.

It looked familiar because it was the same filter used on the 1989-2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R and a ton of other Nissans. Parts bin. Across brands. Across countries. Across things that should not make sense until they do.

16546-V0100 Nissan OEM air filter
33-2031-2 K&N air filter
The same basic air filter is used on 1989-2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R and many other Nissan applications.

This 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R V·Spec is finished in the highly desirable LV4 Midnight Purple II. Its color shifting finish changes from deep purple to blue, bronze, and green depending on the lighting and viewing angle. Only 347 R34 GT-Rs were produced in Midnight Purple II, with just 282 built in the V·Spec configuration.

Power comes from Nissan’s legendary 2.6 liter RB26DETT inline six, featuring twin turbochargers and individual throttle bodies. It is paired with a Getrag 6 speed manual transmission and Nissan’s ATTESA E-TS PRO all wheel drive system. The V·Spec also received an active rear limited slip differential and additional aerodynamic equipment, including a carbon fiber rear diffuser.

The R34 combined Nissan’s proven GT-R performance technology with a more compact and purposeful body. Its multifunction display provides the driver with real time vehicle information, while Brembo brakes, all wheel steering, and the sophisticated all wheel drive system help deliver the responsive and balanced driving experience for which the R34 is known.

Showing only 36,077 kilometers, approximately 22,417 miles, this right hand drive example offers an exceptional combination of low mileage, V·Spec performance equipment, and one of Nissan’s most recognizable factory colors. Its rarity and specification make it an outstanding choice for a collector or enthusiast seeking a special example of the R34 Skyline GT-R.
