A lot of people are out cruising the mother road this year, for her anniversary. We wont be able to, but here's some pics from a few years back. Drove from Oregon to Barstow CA. From Barstow we did as much of the original route as we could. Made it into New Mexico just as Covid kicked off. We turned around a scooted home. Stock 304 and 4 speed. Original axles with drum brakes and 4.10 gears. 750x16 bias ply tires. It was a fun trip and would like to do it again.

Putting miles on the horse traded 87 XR250. It has a massive oil leak and a carburetor that needs work, but it runs good enough to ride to work now. 75 to 80mpg seems to be the average. I've put 2 gallons of gas and 1 quart of oil in it this last week. I'll take it.

The quick removal of the truck and travelall line is pretty evident when you see stuff like this. As far as Dana/Spicer knew, IH was planning on making pickups with 60 front ends. That never happened. The HD200s got closed knuckle 70s instead. The regular 200s got HD Dana 44s. Cool piece of history that never saw the light of day.

NOS top end kits are live on the store. These are for 345s only, since they have large intake gaskets but small head gas...

The travelette weighs 7k. The blue scout weighs 5k. The trailer its on weighs 4k. The old 345, T34, 4.56 gears and 35" tires still go down the road just fine.

I see so many posts online about fuel filling issues on upgraded scout 2's. Make sure you're using a high quality tank 1st. This is our Harvester Hardware 30 gallon aluminum setup. 2nd make sure you have proper venting. Not only do you need the 1/2" vent for filling but you also need an open vent for expansion. It really needs to be plumbed to the manifold inside the quarter panel for odor abatement. A vented cap IS NOT the answer and should not be used, even as a band aid.
