🌿 A step forward for h**p, but the work isn’t over.

This is the first step toward states reclaiming control of their own h**p programs.

The House passed the spending bill 370–48, preserving a one-month window for Congress to find a better path forward for h**p. That matters.

The path forward should be clear: protect the free market, prohibit synthetic products, and establish a 21+ age requirement for h**p purchases, aligning with the state programs already doing the work.

Now the next step is overturning the ban and protecting the h**p farmers, businesses, and consumers who depend on these markets.

Some h**p products take off. Some become a really good experiment. 🌱🌶️🍋

Our Jalapeño Citrus Vinaigrette was one of those experiments. We loved the flavor, but it never quite found its crowd, so we're getting ready to retire it from the KHW lineup.

But that doesn't mean we're done playing in the kitchen. 👀

We've tinkered with h**p seed oil ranch and even made our own h**p seed oil mayonnaise, and let's just say... both were pretty dang good.

With 370 members of Congress voting to keep h**p markets open, there’s growing momentum behind giving states the ability to shape their own h**p programs.

At Kentucky H**p Works, we believe the path forward should include open markets, clear regulations, a 21+ age requirement, and strong protections against synthetic cannabinoids.

The conversation isn’t over. We’ll keep paying attention and speaking up for Kentucky h**p.

Did you know that h**p has flowers…but they’re not what you think?

Most people refer to the leafy material on a mature h**p plant as “flower” but that’s just a slang term. That leafy material is actually a seed head, which is also called a cola.

The flowers of the plant are often overlooked, but they’re important in the reproductive cycle of any cannabis plant. Male plants spring up early and produce pollen sacks, which open up into pretty little flowers and shed pollen into the air. Wind and pollinators carry that pollen to female plants to produce our favorite snack… H**P SEEDS!

Of course there are nuances to h**p reproduction, like hermaphroditic plants. But typically you’ll find that about 5% of a seed crop is made of true male plants, and the rest are females with pollen sacks that are self-pollinating.

Kentucky’s cannabis market is growing, but there are still growing pains. 🌱

A new report from MJBizDaily looks at Kentucky’s medical ma*****na market and some of the challenges slowing it down, including supply shortages, limited business openings, and licensing delays.

For Kentucky’s h**p industry, it’s another reminder that regulations matter, but so does building a system that businesses can realistically operate within.

As Kentucky continues shaping its cannabis and h**p policies, we’ll keep paying attention.
