The Death of Illinois
To all my fellow Illinoisans!!!
As Governor Pritzker takes a bow for SAVING Illinois residents 1% on grocery tax, stating “It’s one more important part of lifting the burden on Illinois families”, what he is not telling you is that he is intending to cost EVERY ILLINOIS FAMILY much more with another tax he plans on implementing! As residents flee our state at alarming numbers (56,235 in 2024) and illegal immigrants are coming in (112,955 in 2024), we are already stretched to our limits. It is estimated that $5-6 Billion was spent on the more than 500,000 illegal immigrants living in Illinois in 2024. In April of this year, businesses laid off 1,023 Illinois residents, and more than half of the layoffs were because of company closures. So business are also fleeing our fine state, and closing because of the tax burden. Pritzker also fails to mention that since his election in 2019, he has increased the number of State employees from 50,544 to 55,340. With the average State employee costing Illinois tax payers $72,613.00, he has added an addition $348,251,948.00 to the budget for his new 4,796 Illinois employees! Since 2015 ($35.4 billion) to 2025 ($53.07 billion) our State budget has risen 49.92%!!! Are you angry yet? You should be, but it’s about to get much worse!! It is estimated that Illinois will face a $1.7 billion deficient for the upcoming fiscal year. So why on earth would Governor Pritzker want to save our Illinois families by getting rid of the 1% grocery tax now? It’s really quite simple; the average Illinois family spends $1,080.00 on groceries per month. They will save $10.80 per month or $129.60 per year with his tax cut. What he is not telling you is that he is trying to impose the highest “Service Tax” in the country. This new tax would be imposed on: Bank & Financial Institution fees; Barber, Beauty Shops & Massages; Almost everything automotive related battery, tire, oil change, towing, wash & wax, and repairs; Farm implement repairs; Exterminators; Garbage collection; Appliance & TV repair; Landscape, lawn care & tree trimming; Streaming services; Uber, Lyft, Taxis etc.; Sewer services; Home building & almost everything related to home repairs; the list goes on and on. If this law gets passed, I can assure you the list of “Services” that he taxes will continue to increase. I estimated that these taxes will cost the average Illinois household $101.83 per month or $1,221.94 per year. This will cost business MUCH, MUCH MORE! Besides the actual out of pocket expense of the tax for the businesses, it will require many small businesses to have the added expense of collecting these taxes and paying them to the State. It will cause much more work for small businesses that are already struggling in our fine State. It will cause more businesses to flee our State, and more businesses to close. It will raise the unemployment rate in Illinois and cause more people to leave our state, which will increase the tax burden on those who remain.
