We have a field at our property that was just begging for a medium sized motorcycle to enjoy! Tech tip… Friday? Why not! I found myself using some lessons I’d learned in the past earlier this week on a job and had the thought that I could easily share my method and probably save at least somebody from an easily avoidable mistake. The welding is the easy part, it’s knowing when and where it will bite ya and how to avoid it that takes the years to fully understand because anybody can turn a nice flat tacked up surface into a taco 🌮

After mid-mounting this Radium Engineering 22 gallon cell in this IS300 track car I designed this containment cover for the exposed fuel components which I sent over to SendCutSend to zap out and bend the .080”5052 body, .250” lexan lid, top trim ring, & event the Buna-N gasket! Overall I think it turned out slick and does a good job keeping any potential fuel spills or leaks out of the cockpit without the need to add a full firewall at the b-pillar.

I’d earned an F-Around Friday so I knocked off a few personal projects for some upcoming content like this hitch conversion on my AMT 626 “John Beere” utility machine. It’s tied into 3 different heavy wall crossmembers and fully tig welded so it ought to hold a pretty good size load. What do you think I’ll be hauling with it?

I didn’t want to pay for a custom mailbox so I did it myself for 5x the cost & 100x the wait 😂 Absolutely worth the high effort though, I love it and it’s definitely the finest mailbox in my entire small town lol

It’s not always automotive fabrication, but the same process is still pretty handy around the house! Case in point, I hit the easy button on this foundation access cover and had SendCutSend zap and bend it for me out of .125” 5052 aluminum.
