Taking Friday Off ❤️

We’re going to take Friday, August 14th off and spend the day with our family before the kids head back to school next week. 🥹❤️

We’ve gotten everything done this week that we can get done, and the vehicles that are still here are waiting on parts that won’t be available until Monday anyway. So rather than sitting around the shop, we’re going to take advantage of one more summer day with our girls!

This summer went by WAY too fast! ☀️😭 It feels like we just started it, and somehow we’re already getting ready for another school year.

We hope everyone gets a chance to slow down this weekend, enjoy the sunshine, make some memories, and spend a little extra time with your kids before school starts. ❤️

We’ll be back Monday and ready to get everyone taken care of!

We had the honor of celebrating Walter Slater this weekend as a 2026 Citizen of the Year.

Walter Slater has called Creston home since he was 5 years old. In September, he will be 101 years young. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II from 1943 -1945 having survived the West Lock Disaster on May 21, 1944, often referred to as the Second Pearl Harbor. He later participated in the invasions of Saipan, Tinian and Guam. In recent years he has shared his story with school classes in the area. He has been a member of Creston American Legion Post 497 and has served as Past Commander. Walt served as a Scout Master and helped organize the Hot Stove League. He has been a member of Creston-Canaan United Methodist Church and during the 1960 was involved in the Creston Minstrel Shows. Being married to Kate for 72 years before her passing, he made beef sandwiches, helped plant village flowers and helped with the Norwayne Golf Team. He was an avid golfer and still swings the clubs on occasion. Having moved to Lucas last September to live with his daughter Julie, on a recent visit he commented just how wonderful our town is. Walt has three children, the late Tracy Slater, Julia Crawford and Michael Slater, three grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
