Road update. We've been out nonstop since around 6pm. The gravel roads, especially east west are nearly undriveable due to visibility and there is some drifting starting. North/south blacktop and highways are not as bad but still very difficult in places. The wind is brutal so if you do end up stuck, DO NOT leave your vehicle. If you have plans for tomorrow morning I suggest you change them. Please stay safe out there tonight and tomorrow

Tomorrow could get really interesting. Depending on who you listen to we could get anywhere from 3 to 57 inches of snow starting anywhere from tonight until Monday morning. We've decided to prepare for the worst so I've got three trucks and drivers ready to head out. In the event of a really serious weather situation I can be hard to get ahold of and I apologize for that in advance but we are in and out of trucks and I'll have so many calls that it gets hard to keep track of who we have or haven't gotten back to. If you find yourself in trouble and you cant reach me you can contact Cody Bergan at 563-203-0082 Cale Knight at 641-220-8921 or contact the Howard County Sheriff's department bc they will normally be able to reach me or have an idea where we are at. If it gets so bad that there is a tow ban or that we cant get trucks out and you have to leave your vehicle, please leave your keys with the sheriff's department so that we have them available when we do go get the vehicle. Also if you have to leave your vehicle, do not leave your flashers on unless the vehicle is actually in a traveled portion of the road. If someone picks you up and brings you into town please call the sheriff's department and let them know where the vehicle is and that it is unoccupied so that they are not needlessly sending a deputy out to check on you. Hopefully the weather man is wrong and this one misses us but if it doesnt then we will be there like always to help out and keep the roads open. Stay safe tomorrow and stay home if possible.

**TRAVEL NOT ADVISED** looking out the window at home or driving around town it may not seem bad but believe me, it's nasty out there. Highways are terrible. They aren't great be they are navigable but the north south gravels are almost undriveable. Not so much snow accumulation but visibility is at or near whiteout conditions. There were a few small drifts but nothing over bumper high. I just did a call on valley Ave about 6 miles straight north of my house and I took me over 15 minutes to get there. We will not be running any more gravel road calls tonight and the hard surface roads I will leave up to the sheriff departments discretion. Your best chance of not having issues, as always it to just stay off the roads. If you do find yourself stranded, call 911 and DO NOT leave your vehicle. The wind is absolutely brutal.

I'd like to give people some advice that will hopefully save them some time and money in the future. A lot of people in need of towing services will Google towing near me or towing in cresco iowa. I just dealt with a lady tonight at a gas station in town that had done that. She is a repeat customer and when she got an operator that spoke poor English, she knew it wasn't me and hung up. So tonight I googled towing near me just for sh*ts and giggles and there is 5 that come up before me. All say cresco towing company or something along that line. These are NOT me and they are not local companies. They aren't necessarily a scam but they are a third party company that will take you information, charge you ex amount of dollars and then farm the call out to the lowest bidder. Some times your help may be coming from an hour or more away. For example, I did a fuel delivery for a guy a couple weeks ago who wasn't local and had googled towing near me. He got one of these third party companies, paid 185 dollars up front and then waited 2 hours for a tow company out of Minnesota who's name i won't mention. They never showed so he called me. 45 dollars and the price of 5 gallons of gas and he was on his way. So moral of the story is dont get scammed or over charged. Google cresco towing and recovery not towing near me. We only have one number which is 641-330-9566. If you get an operator that doesn't speak English it's not me. If there isn't a picture of a red truck it's not me. Remember, you only want the guy in the red truck. Don't get scammed!

For whatever reason, there seems to be a lot more traffic tonight than usual and so far 9 of these travelers have found their way into the ditch since two this afternoon. Don't let the fact that it is not snowing right now fool you. The roads are not good tonight. Blowing snow has turned highway 9 into a pure sheet of ice from 63 all the way to cresco. County roads are not as bad but still partially snow covered and slick in spots. I have not been on 63 but I'm sure it's no better than highway 9. Take a little extra time if you are traveling tonight or tomorrow morning.

Some intersections in town are extremely flooded as of 5:30 this morning. Be careful where you drive as it is really hard to see standing water in the dark. Water is deep enough to drown out cars.

I bought this duramax last year with the intention of putting my autoloader wrecker body on it but apparently I can't read a tape measure and it won't fit so I've had the truck just sitting around the past years. I hate trucks that don't make money so I found a place in Doon Iowa that custom builds these repo style under lifts. Just got the truck back yesterday and I'm very happy with the product. Well built and great customer service. The business is called hide-a-lift in Doon Iowa. I would highly recommend them to any of my friends in the towing industry.

The Howard County Sheriff's department will be issuing a tow ban today. Keep that in mind if you are traveling. If you do find yourself stuck in will be more than happy to come and pick you up and get you back to town but we will not be able to pull you out until the ban is lifted. If it is an emergency or your vehicle is blocking the traveled portion of the road please notify the sheriff's department and we can proceed from there.

This old Holmes wrecker was the original wrecker that I learned on when I started towing 24 years ago. Back in those days it was on a 1 ton chevy chassis. Now it's on a 550 Ford but it's still the same monster it always was. They don't build a light duty wrecker body now that can even compare to those old Holmes wreckers. And no I wasn't just playing around, this was a piggybacked load of new freightliners. I was lifting one truck off at it's destination.
