Old School Car Audio Restoration – Bringing Legendary Car Audio Back to Life

Welcome to AudioResto.com, home of Old School Car Audio Restorations. My name is Michael Schultz, and for nearly 30 years I have specialized in restoring, rebuilding, repairing, and customizing vintage and old-school car audio equipment.

What started as a passion early in life has developed into a highly specialized restoration process dedicated to bringing legendary car audio equipment back to life. From classic Rockford Fosgate amplifiers and other iconic old-school car audio components to rare pieces that deserve a complete custom restoration, our goal is simple: make your equipment look and perform as good as possible—often better than when it originally left the factory.

Rockford Fosgate & Old School Car Audio Restoration

Vintage car audio equipment wasn't designed to sit forgotten on a shelf. Unfortunately, after decades of use, storage, heat, moisture, scratches, corrosion, damaged hardware, and aging electronics, many once-beautiful amplifiers and components have become weathered or non-functional.

That's where Old School Car Audio Restorations comes in.

We specialize in Rockford Fosgate audio restoration and the restoration of vintage old school car audio equipment. Whether you're restoring a period-correct system for a classic vehicle, rebuilding a rare amplifier for your collection, or creating a completely custom showpiece, we can help bring your equipment back to life.

From mild to wild, original manufacturer to aftermarket, period-correct to completely custom one-off restorations, we do it all.

More Than Paint and Stickers

A true restoration should look authentic and last.

Our restorations aren't simply stickers and spray paint. We use professional finishing processes similar to those used by the original manufacturers, including:

Professional powder coating
Chrome finishes
Gold finishes
Anodizing
OEM-style silk-screened lettering and graphics
Sheet-metal repair and restoration
Replacement metal shrouds
New hardware
OEM and reproduction replacement parts
Custom finishes and one-off designs

We can restore equipment to its original factory appearance or create something completely unique.

Complete Electronic Restoration & Upgrades

Looking great is only part of the restoration.

We can completely go through the internal electronics, identifying and replacing components that are worn, damaged, or likely to become problematic in the future. Because we have access to many original manufacture components and reproduction parts that we manufacture, we're able to use the correct parts for many restoration projects.

Depending on the equipment and your goals, restoration services can include internal inspection and repair, replacement of aging components, preventative upgrades, wiring upgrades, electronic testing, and other improvements designed to help vintage equipment meet today's expectations while preserving its old-school character.

Restoring the Legends of Car Audio

There was something special about the golden era of car audio. For enthusiasts and collectors, these amplifiers and components aren't simply electronics—they're pieces of car audio history.

We understand what it means to finally find that rare amplifier you've been searching years for, only to discover that decades of use have taken their toll.

Don't give up on it.

Send it to Old School Car Audio Restorations and let us give that legendary piece of equipment another chance to shine.

Whether you're building an old-school competition system, restoring a classic vehicle, completing a vintage car audio collection, or finally found your unicorn amplifier, we'd love to help make it look and perform like new again.

Keep Your Old School Car Audio Alive

Our passion goes beyond individual restorations. We also offer a growing selection of Manufacturer reproduction parts and restoration products designed to help enthusiasts keep vintage car audio equipment alive for another 40 years and beyond.

Visit the Shop or Products section of AudioResto.com to see available reproduction parts and restoration products.

Have a piece of old-school car audio equipment that needs restoration?

Send me your questions and photos. I'll be glad to take a look at what you have and discuss what can be done.

I do this because I love car audio and believe these legendary pieces deserve to be preserved.

Let me help you make your unicorn brand new again.

Some old power II literature/manual! There was 3 different versions of the power 200 amp there was the two , II and 200 all have slightly different wattage specs. the model two had a smaller chassis inn length then the II and 200. The power two was 50 watts and the others were a range from 75 , 90 and 100 watts.

They varied in silkscreening and specs as you can see in the several I have collected over the years. This is from a time 1980-1984 in rf’s history that has been lost and any employees from that time were never surfacing while I complied the history of the company. Which left me to comply as much evidence as I could to recreate it from old store owners , guys that worked at shops back then , enthusiasts them selfs and all the literature I’ve complied over a 30 year period basically.

But this amp has been being questioned and people all have different memories of this. Here’s what I’ve found over the last 3 decades that I’d like to think is the most complete history of this particular amp. I have done the same with all others but this post is about the power 200. Witch as you can see has many variations and the marketing team at rf back then offered these versions different ways with different crossovers and eqs as packaging you could buy including the “Fosgates” pre rf eq then the later rx and rx with dbx also known as the pre “z”

Feel free to ask any questions and I will be happy to answer. Paul gambling this is just some of it I can expand more when I have time.

Been wanting to post up these for awhile but just to busy in the day to day! Summers are crazy and why we cut it off in March!

But had a raining day and got to post these for your viewing pleasure!

These have been fully restored inside and out! The artwork and silkscreening is very challenging from the multiple layers and custom colors!!! That neon orange definitely wasn’t easily done and took a lot of trail and error and repowder coating once! But we are extremely happy how they finished up! Better than new and dead balls accurate!!!!
