RPM Speedway Congratulates the 2013 Track Champions

Crandall, TX (9/16/13) by DarinShort.com. An incredible 494 different drivers competed in the five RPM Speedway points divisions in 2013. And Saturday September 7th was the points finale with the running of the David Pope Memorial event - which drew 193 cars in the four RPM points divisions competing.

Kicking off with the Limited Modified division, Tommy Davis Jr. made up 14 points in the September 7th finale and overtook Jason Gore by just 1 point to win the point championship. 120 different Limited Modified drivers competed at RPM Speedway in 2013. Here are the final top 10 in points:

The division with the largest growth in car count at RPM in 2013 were the Factory Stocks, and 122 different teams earned points throughout the season. Johnny Lowey hung strong at the end and took the title ahead of Joseph Miramontez, Brian Marusak and 2012 RPM Bomber champion Billy Gatlin.

Sunny and dry conditions are forecast for tonight's $27,000+ David Pope Memorial at RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas.

Race time temps of 94 are forecast, dropping to 80 throughout the evening.

$4,000 to win Modifieds, $2,000 to win Limited Modifieds, $1,500 to win Street Stocks and $1,500 to win Factory Stocks. Cars must meet the posted rules at www.RPMSpeedwayTX.com - no exceptions!

*GAMBLERS DRAW FORMAT: the top six drivers from heat race passing points are lined up and will pick a sealed envelope from a plate that contains a number. The driver must give away that starting position to the remaining drivers that have yet to receive an envelope from their competitors in the race. The finishing order of the six-lap dash will comprise the front three rows of the Championship feature race.

ADDITIONAL EVENT DETAILS:

-Utility Trailer of Dallas, Inc. has increased their sponsorship level for the $540 to win Utility Trailer of Dallas Dash for Cash. The event will consist of the top six in USRA Modified points at the conclusion of the heat races on September 7th. In addition to the $540 winners share, all remaining Dash for Cash starters will now receive $54. The finishing order of the Utility Trailer of Dallas Dash for Cash will make up the first three rows of the 35-lap, $4,000 to win, David Pope Memorial championship feature to be held later in the evening.

-Muirhead Trucking of Mabank Texas is presenting the Hard Charger winners in all four feature races cash awards. The Hard Charger in the USRA Modifieds will receive $200, while the Hard Charger in the Street Stocks, Factory Stocks and Limited Modifieds will each receive $100.

- Dunn Motorsports, along with RPM Speedway, has added a combined total of $1,000 to the winners share of the Modified feature, making it a whopping $4,000 to win! Dunn Motorsports fields the always sharp looking driven by Clyde Dunn, Jr.

- North Texas High Performance (NTHP) Heat Races for Limited Modifieds (3819 State Highway 34 South, Greenville, Texas 75402, (903) 217-9426). The winners of the NTHP Limited Modified Heat Races will each receive $54 cash - regardless how many heat races there are in the division! Open 6 days a week, NTHP offers racers competitive pricing on racing tires, fuel, vinyl graphics and racing parts.

- Dodge Boys Fabrication "Hard Luck Awards." Owners Glen and Robbie Watkins are putting up $100 each in the Limited Modified and Modified divisions for a driver that experiences Hard Luck during the event. Dodge Boys Fabrication specialize in race car fabrication, as well as full sheet metal projects. Located in Blue Ridge Texas, you can find them on Facebook at "Dodge Boys Fabrication."

- R&B Motorsports (Rusty and Becky Trevathan, Wiley Texas), are donating a new set of doors and quarter panels to a lucky driver in each of the Modified and Limited Modified divisions.

- The RPM Modified feature winner will be awarded a guaranteed provisional starting position into the championship feature of the $10,000 to win DAY Motorsports Armadillo Nationals at LoneStar Speedway (LSS), set for September 28th. The winning RPM driver must enter the LSS Armadillo event and attempt to qualify through the normal procedures, and if they come up short, LSS track officials will add the RPM Modified winner as a provisional starter - which also will add $500 for the 25th place position. The $10,000 to win DAY Motorsports Armadillo Nationals will be held September 26-28. Online registration is currently open at the event website, http://www.darinshort.com/arm and is ongoing through Tuesday of race week, September 24th. The Modifieds, Factory Stocks and Limited Modifieds will compete in qualifying races Thursday September 26th and Friday September 27th. Their last chance qualifiers and championship feature events will be contested on September 28th. Postmarked entries must be mailed by September 6th to be considered 'early.' -SEPTEMBER 7th IS THE FINAL RPM POINTS RACE FOR 2013! Two Modified drivers are tied for first place in division points, which will further elevate the racing drama throughout the evening. Charlie Smith ( ) and Bobby Ruffin ( #121), both fielding Hughes Chassis modifieds, will fight it out in the tightest Modified points battle in track history. It will all come down to the driver that finishes ahead of the other to determine the 2013 RPM Speedway Modified Points Champion - so fans will get to witness this race within a race. It is also RPM points championship night in the Limited Modifieds, Factory Stocks and Street Stocks. Leading the way in the Limited Modified division is Jason Gore ( #021) in his H8R Chassis, followed by Tommy Davis, Jr. ( #17) in his Wicked Chassis. Gore leads Davis by 13 markers - but as witnessed in the RPM RaceSaver Sprint Car division two weeks ago, anything can happen on championship night! Johnny Lowey ( #146) in the Factory Stocks and Chris Davis ( #98) in the Street Stocks have locked up the points titles in their respective divisions after stellar performances throughout the racing season.

Crandall, TX (9/4/13) by DarinShort.com. The 2nd Annual David Pope Memorial (DPM) event is this Saturday, September 7th at RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas. Whether you knew David, or had never met him, this page will take you back through time to a place that was much more simplified - all the way through modern times. It will give you some background on his commitment and dedication to his family and business; which, in turn, touched the lives of many people throughout the area.

Also, upon your arrival to the speedway on Saturday night, please make sure to pick up a points sheet at the ticket window, which contains a letter from David's wife, Joy. The letter explains how this event came into being, and its goal. The points sheet are free. This event also coincides with the final RPM Speedway points race of 2013.

Please make sure to arrive early on Saturday night, as the schedule is very time-driven, due to the FAA requirements revolving around the skydivers. Plus, it will allow you to take in our secret pre-race activities.

Pope Mem’l Purse Continues to Rise for 9/7 at RPM

Crandall, TX (8/23/13) by DarinShort.com. Joy & Dustin Pope, RPM Speedway Track Promoter Jason Troutman, area racers and businesses continue building on top of an already massive $27,000 purse slated for the David Pope Memorial to be held at RPM Speedway in Crandall Texas on Saturday, September 7th.

And today, the next batch of sponsor announcements and purse increases are being revealed:

- Dunn Motorsports, along with RPM Speedway, has added a combined total of $1,000 to the winners share of the Modified feature, making it a whopping $4,000 to win! With no driver entry fee and the standard RPM Speedway pit pass prices, this should help to bring together many of the finest modified teams in the region. Dunn Motorsports fields the always sharp looking driven by Clyde Dunn, Jr.

- North Texas High Performance (NTHP) Heat Races for Limited Modifieds (3819 State Highway 34 South, Greenville, Texas 75402, (903) 217-9426). The winners of the NTHP Limited Modified Heat Races will each receive $54 cash - regardless how many heat races there are in the division! Open 6 days a week, NTHP offers racers competitive pricing on racing tires, fuel, vinyl graphics and racing parts.

- Dodge Boys Fabrication "Hard Luck Awards." Owners Glen and Robbie Watkins are putting up $100 each in the Limited Modified and Modified divisions for a driver that experiences Hard Luck during the event. Dodge Boys Fabrication specialize in race car fabrication, as well as full sheet metal projects. Located in Blue Ridge Texas, you can find them on Facebook at "Dodge Boys Fabrication."

- R&B Motorsports (Rusty and Becky Trevathan, Wiley Texas), are donating a new set of doors and quarter panels to a lucky driver in each of the Modified and Limited Modified divisions.

Racers and fans, please take a moment to thank the people supporting this event. Without everyone's support, an event like this would be very difficult to produce.

Note to Factory Stock teams: If your car is LoneStar Speedway Factory Stock legal, your cars are legal at this event with one exception: RPM minimum weight is 3,200 #.

ALL pit parking is first-come, first-serve for this event, and there is to be no holding of pit spaces. If you would like to pit next to someone, please try to enter the pits at the same time.

Reminder: the start times have been changed. By September 7th, the sun starts to set quite a bit earlier, 7:45pm to be exact. And the FAA requires any type of skydiving event to be underway by sundown.

Here are the new times:

-Pits open by 3pm
-Grandstands open at 5pm
-Mandatory track packing at 6pm
-Draw Cut-off/Hot Laps at 6:30 sharp!
-Opening ceremonies and racing at 7pm

There are no competitor entry fees or registration fees for new drivers. Pit passes are $30 and adult grandstand ticket prices are the regular price of just $12. Kids 6-12 are $5; and ages 5 and under are free with adult admittance.

Small drink coolers are allowed in the main grandstand area, however, they must fit under your legs and not take up a seat in the grandstand area. No glass containers allowed through the grandstand gates. Coolers will be searched and restricted in size. Please be respectful of this track policy, and to other fans that want a seat to watch the event.
