In case anyone was wondering what a piston looks like after surviving Summernats… 😂

Melted edge, collapsed ring land, stuck rings—and somehow Shell Shocked still restarted and made it to the finals.

The replacement plan may involve a dingle-ball hone, fresh rings and bearings, a few donated pistons and an irresponsible amount of optimism.

Would you rebuild it or call this engine done?

The damage didn’t stop with the melted piston—we also found a spun rod bearing. Somehow, the crank journal still looks surprisingly good, although I’ll check everything before it goes back together.

The current plan is to dingle-ball hone every cylinder, install fresh rings and bearings, slap the pistons Mike gave me in it and send Shell Shocked again!

Proper rebuild? Absolutely not. Enough to survive a few more burnout competitions? We’re going to find out. 😂

Would you run it?

Went to replace a radiator and came home with a FREE Snap-on cordless ratchet 😂

Found a couple totes beside the dumpster, and this was sitting right on top. Got home, dug a little deeper, and found the battery AND charger… and the thing actually works!

Plus a pile of other tools and supplies I’ll put to work at Peck N Pull.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever found that somebody threw away? 👇

Somethings are just a little different when it comes to Australian burnout comps.. 🤣

Everybody thinks the hardest part of running a mobile mechanic business is fixing the cars. Honestly, one of my biggest struggles has been something completely different! 😂🔧

I got these smart glasses to try out, and I'm hoping they might make my workdays a whole lot easier!

But what really caught my attention is the little camera built into them! 👀🎥

Imagine being able to show people exactly what you're seeing while you work, without having to hold your phone!

I'm going to put these things through some real-world testing and see if they're actually worth having.

Would you use something like this at work?

Ever watched a burnout competition and wondered why one driver won when somebody else made a bigger cloud of smoke? 👀💨

There’s a lot more to it than keeping your foot down and killing tires.

In my new YouTube video, I break down what judges look for—from instant smoke and consistency to driver control, using the pad, popping both tires, and finishing the run. I also use my own Shell Shocked footage to show some lessons I’ve learned the hard way.

Whether you already follow burnout comps or have never understood how they’re scored, this one’s for you.

What did YOU think decided the winner before watching?

You’re watching the smoke—but watch the front wheels. 👀💨
Getting Shell Shocked out of a corner takes more than keeping my foot down. Working the throttle and brake is just one part of putting together a winning burnout.
I explain smoke, driver skill, pad use, penalties, and finishing the run in my new YouTube video.

Before watching, did you think whoever made the most smoke won?

Finally got the heads off Shell Shocked. One piston is completely melted and another started melting around the edge—but somehow the block still looks usable and turns over by hand.
Do I give it the old dingle-ball rebuild, throw two rods and pistons in it and send it a few more times? Or put everything toward the stronger 5.3 being planned for next season? 😂 What would you do?

Summernats wasn’t just another burnout event for me.

Last time Shell Shocked made it there, it never even left the trailer. This time was about going back, unloading, making smoke, and proving this truck wasn’t just a trailer ornament anymore.

The full Road to Summernats video is live on YouTube now.
