🔥⚠️ Don’t Let Dryer Lint Spark a Fire! ⚠️🔥

It may seem harmless, but dryer lint is highly flammable and a leading cause of home fires.

Help keep your home safe with these simple tips:
🧺 Clean the lint filter after every load
🧼 Regularly clean behind and underneath your dryer
🌬️ Check and clear the dryer vent and exhaust duct
🚫 Never run the dryer when you’re asleep or away from home

A few minutes of maintenance can help prevent a dangerous fire.

🚒❤️ Stay safe, Covington!

Starting this week, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, the Covington Fire Department, Georgia will start their annual fire hydrant testing protocol. All city owned fire hydrants inside the city limits will be flushed and undergo routine maintenance.

Please be aware flushing can cause the water to be dirty. It may be necessary to run your water for several minutes until it clears up. This controlled annual procedure is vital to the general maintenance of the City’s water distribution system. It ensures adequate water flow is available to fire fighters, residents and businesses. Hydrant flushing also improves water quality by clearing iron and other mineral deposits from the water mains.
