With ice and snow predicted, we want to encourage everyone to take precautions now so you can stay home and stay safe if conditions worsen. Remember — nothing goes on ice. Even the most experienced drivers can’t beat slick roads.

If travel isn’t absolutely necessary, staying off the roads is one of the best ways we can all help.

Let’s all join in praying for the men and women who will be out in this weather keeping our communities running and protected — our linemen, salt & plow truck drivers(who are working long hours right now to prepare) , police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and all first responders. The safest thing we can do for them is not travel unless we truly have to.

Stay warm. Stay home if you can. Check on our neighbors. One of the most beautiful people things about living in our community is the way we all care for on another as a community.

Thanks to the quick thinking and skill of this truck driver, no other vehicles were involved in this accident. A giant spool of cable was in his lane, and he had to hit it rather than swerve into traffic. He’s sore, but thankfully he’s okay.

I’m grateful for the teamwork of all the emergency responders who worked quickly to assess the situation and clear I-75 North. I know it probably didn’t feel fast to those who were waiting, but considering the transitional rain and tough conditions they worked through last night, they did an incredible job.
Last night, Corbin Firefighters responded to a commercial vehicle collision near mile marker 26 on I-75 North. Firefighters stopped and mitigated leaking fuel from an overturned semi-truck, and the roadway was completely blocked for several hours. A huge thank-you to our T&H Towing and Recovery Team, Eco Tech USA, Corbin Police Department, Oak Grove Fire Department, Whitley County EMS, and Emergency Management for partnering together to get this cleaned up safely and efficiently.
