Don't forget regular maintenance. Oil changes, fluid checks. The simple stuff can cause you headaches later on. GMC terrain came in for surging and stalling at stoplights. Found the oil filter collapsed starving the engine and certain solenoids of oil. Fresh filter and oil then it was back to running like normal.

Some of these take half the day to diagnose. This Mercedes e350 came in with a no crank condition originally assuming the starter had given out. The windshield washer fluid tube had been rubbed in two by the wiper linkage. So every time the customer cleaned their windshield they were unknowingly pouring washer fluid on their fuse panel and system acquisition module. Be patient with your mechanics. It's never as simple as it seems.
