Hodge Perseveres in Rookie of the Year Campaign
By Hunter Weaver Announcer / PR
(LAWNDALE, NC) - At the beginning of the year, the biggest and most impressive Rookie class was ready to take on the 10th Slidewayz for a Cure Tour to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. One of the drivers that set out to achieve this allusive goal for the 2024 season was a guy out of Sumter, South Carolina named Dalton Hodge.
Hodge knew that going into the season was going to be a challenge. There were many tracks on the schedule this team had never laid eyes on but that did not intimidate the driver and this team. Dalton Hodge and team were able to score a pair of fifth place finishes that were their highest on the season which came at Lancaster Motor Speedway Caskey/Munn in June and Laurens County Speedway-The Darlington Of Dirt in August. They also had multiple top ten finishes but stayed consistent and were able to finish most events and maintained perfect attendance which put them well ahead in the points of the other contenders such Aaron W**d, Kevin Godwin, Justin Mintz and Bryan Fawley. Hodge came home in overall points in the 5th position in the standings.
Hodge said in his interview after the season finale at Carolina, “We wanted to have interviews to be in the top three if not a win, but we achieved the goal we set out to do at the beginning of the season and that’s what really matters”. Hodge definitely reminds some of the legendary Ed Gibbons who was from the same part of the Palmetto state, he was known as “the little man with a big right foot”, Hodge is definitely a distinct reminder of the legend who went on to accomplish so much in his storied career. Hodge is young and has plenty of experience and talent and a family that is very supportive of his hopes and dreams. This definitely won’t be the last of seeing Dalton Hodge, he will be around for years to come in dirt late model racing.
Speaking of support, Dalton Hodge would like to thank his sponsors that help make it a reality for this team to compete. First of all they wanna give a thank you to the BLUE RIDGE Outlaw Latemodels for having a great series, we enjoyed every race and enjoyed all the family atmosphere throughout the year!
