This 2022 Ram 5500 with a 6.7L Cummins came into 441 Diesel with a serious problem under the hood!

The culprit? Hydraulic lifter failure. The lifters failed to maintain proper valve lash, resulting in excessive clearance and damage to multiple valvetrain components.

🔧 CRANKING BUT WON’T START? WE’LL FIND OUT WHY.
This International DT466E came into the shop with a crank/no-start condition. After some diagnostic work, we checked the high-pressure oil pump (HPOP) using a hydraulic pressure gauge and found the problem—the pump wasn’t producing pressure.
Finding the actual cause before throwing parts at a truck is what proper diagnostics are all about. 💪

🔧 MEET THE TEAM: MICHAEL 🔧

Meet Michael, one of our Diesel Mechanics here at 441 Diesel!

Michael has a knack for tracking down the problems that can leave you scratching your head — no-starts, engine misses, oil leaks, electrical issues, and everything in between. Give him a problem to diagnose, and he’s ready to dig in and figure out what that truck is trying to tell him. 🔧💪

His favorite engines to work on? The 7.3 Powerstroke or pretty much any 6.7! Whether it’s an old-school 7.3 or one of the newer 6.7 platforms, those are the engines he’s happiest to see sitting in his bay.

His least favorite? Any Duramax. 😂

No specific year. No specific generation. Michael apparently decided to just include the entire Duramax family and call it a day. 🤣

Favorite engine or not, Michael is always ready to roll up his sleeves, track down the problem, and get the job done. His troubleshooting skills and mechanical know-how make him a valuable part of the 441 Diesel crew.
