We trailered the street bikes up to Oscoda on the Eastern shore of Lake Huron Michigan. Three days, 300+ miles on very low traffic roads, great waterside stops and absolutely no issues. One of the best trips we have taken. Click here for the full story on my web blog https://classicjapanesemotorcycles.com/blogs/news

I can still remember, being in college and virtually penniless, looking at the Yamaha DT1 ads wishing I had one to go out on the trails. IMHO Yamaha's 1968 DT1 gave the off-road motorcycle industry a giant kickstart.
The rest of the Japanese eventually got on the ball. By 1969 Suzuki had their first TS250, and by 1971 was totally in with their serious off road TS 90, 100, 125, 185, 250, and 400 lineup. Kawasaki had a nice little 90 cc Trail Boss in 1970, and eventually 125, 175, 250, and 350 models Strangely enough Honda didn't have any SERIOUS off road bikes(except slow plodding deer carrying CA100T models) until their XR series came out in 1979. It has been a fantastic ride for those that longed to get out in the woods.
