Hello,
We have a suggestion when building or restoring your hot rod, don't cut corners, it will probably come back to bite you.
In the case of this '71 Roadrunner when it was built they attempted to repair the heater core with seam sealer instead of replacing it.
Sealer on a Brass heater core will never work.

Our friend Eddie is back in for repair to the yellow bullet. We pulled the damaged iron heads for some high flow aluminum heads. A few upgrades to the valve train and we should be closer to the 400HP mark. We will keep you posted.
Halfway through Eddie asked for A/C. Shipping delay put it on hold for a while. All parts have come in and it's in final assembly. We will post more photos soon.

Well the parts guy said all I need is Coolant temp sensor. Well they where partly correct. This car had about half a dozen codes set which took a trained technician to determined which where relative to this problem. They did guess the correct cause as the coolant sensor but can not tell how to find or repair the effect. In this case coolant was seeping out the sensor and up through the wiring harness until it reached the plug at the Engine computer filling it with coolant and causing a short. Don't trust the safety of one of your biggest investments to a parts house, leave that to a professional.

" Well the parts store told me all I need is a need is a new O2 sensor "
A tool is only as good as it's operator. What that tool won't tell you is why that O2 sensor is not operating the way it should. It takes a trained technician to know how to read the info that it gives. In this case half the cat. converter was missing. A new O2 sensor was not going to fix this.
Don't trust your car repair to the discount auto parts store, leave that to the trained professional.
