Ah, Jeff Beck! There are lots of wonderful guitarists around, and I'm proud to have played with some, but when I play something commonplace or dull, it's Jeff Beck's work nagging me to reach further. His "big ears", broad listening habits, relentless search for new ideas, and great sense of humor gave us decades of cliche free, unpredictable beauty. He showed us over and over that an electric guitar could sing. Thank you, Jeff Beck; you will be missed.

Wagons in a circle for about 2 years - health issues, loss of work and connections due to the pandemic (common problems, I know). Kept on studying and transcribing music, but very few gigs.

Thanks to my wife and family for their support, doctors and staff for a solid treatment plan, and Larry Eliot (Retrospect), Kenny Lewis (Harikaraoke), Eric Metzman (Wharf Rats) and Gregory Thompkins for hiring me occasionally. Eric even got me back into playing keys - thanks, bro!

Currently working to build chops, health, and stamina: I can now handle more gigs, repair work, and students.

Been off FB for many months - "feeling old and in the way". I did transcribe a lot of music in the downtime; thanks to those who found it useful. Thanks to Larry Elliott and Retrospect for my first guitar gigs in over a year. Looking forward to more instrument repairs, picking up some new students, maybe even starting up our Sunday jams again!

Thanks to David Bach and Damon Foreman for getting me out of the house to play jazzy versions of holiday songs; despite the cold, they sounded great! I played my Modulus Quantum bass with a carbon fiber neck, and it handled the wide temperature swings nicely - better than my numb fingers did. Gotta practice!
