A postcard, one email, or a boosted post isn't a marketing system. It's the first tire on a four-tire truck.
Yet a campaign often gets declared dead after the first contact doesn't fill the schedule. Then the phone rings, an estimate needs writing, a job runs late, and the follow-up that was supposed to happen simply wanders off into the weeds.
Your prospect isn't sitting at home waiting for your offer to arrive. They're thinking about bills, groceries, work, a strange appliance noise, and perhaps a dog making a poor decision. They may notice your first message and forget it five minutes later. That doesn't prove it failed. It proves they have a life.
The costly part can happen after an inquiry: no fast response, no estimate reminder, no retention contact after the job, and no clear request for a review or referral. Then the advertising bill gets blamed for problems the process created.
