One ‘73 Phoenix Red 2.0L back up and running now time for the next one! After an unanticipated rust repair detour, this local 1973 914 has it’s engine back in and doing the thing. The next one up is an early ‘73 (914S) with the windscreen vinyl trim. Reviving after a long period of storage.

Right when you think it’s time to stab the fresh engine in, you need to pivot to rust repair. 914s are the gift that keeps on giving. This Phoenix Red 1973 914 2.0L is newly acquired and the owner elected to enlarge the engine to 2056cc while we did a full engine reseal, gearbox reseal and full refresh of the engine tin and associated parts. Now we discover rot in the lower right side engine mount which has led to damage to the outer skin of the longitudinal. No choice but to repair it back to new.

All in a weeks work: send a customer back home to N. Lake Tahoe on Monday with their new 2056 engine in a gorgeous Olympic Blue ‘74. Disassemble a customer’s early 5-lug suspension and prepare for powder coating and zinc plate of the hardware, also prep their engine hardware for the same process. Assemble The South Jersey Project’s front trunk complete with full detail of all ventilation components. We are leaving the tank as-is for those patina feels. Lastly removing the engine and gearbox of a local 73 Phoenix Red 2.0L for full cleaning/degreasing and resealing of engine and gearbox. Bumping up to 2056 while we are there with all the valve train goodies.

This little gem leaves for home Monday. Brand new 2056cc Type 4 going back to North Lake Tahoe. Driving all the way from...
