If you’ve ever tried to figure out exactly how much a Ram truck can tow, you already know it isn’t as simple as it should be.

Ram’s towing charts require you to match the truck’s engine, axle ratio, cab style, bed length, drivetrain, GVWR, GCWR and several other details—then find the correct line in a very dense chart. It can be confusing for customers and even time-consuming for experienced salespeople.

Looking for Power Wagon attitude with more everyday towing and hauling capability? The 2026 RAM 2500 Rebel may be the sweet spot.

Autoblog recently reviewed the Rebel and praised its balance of heavy-duty capability and off-road performance. It offers Bilstein shocks, an electronic-locking rear differential, skid plates and 34-inch Goodyear DuraTrac tires. Buyers can also choose between the standard 6.4L HEMI V8 or the available High-Output 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel, delivering 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb-ft of torque.

The Power Wagon remains the more specialized choice for extreme trails, but the Rebel may make more sense if you need a truck that can tow, haul and still explore beyond the pavement.

From the Perkins archives: August 24, 1980.

This Colorado Springs Sun profile featured Will and Tom Perkins and explored the people and philosophy behind the dealership.

The article discusses Chrysler K-cars, plans to sell the new DeLorean, the dealership’s earliest years, and employees and customers who had already been with Perkins for decades. Will summed up his approach simply: “The most important ingredients of all are philosophy and people.”

One of our favorite details appears near the end. Tom had recently welcomed twin boys, and Will joked, “We’re hedging our bets that we’ve got the fourth generation on line.”

At the time, it was a hopeful comment about the future. Nearly 46 years later, it is an incredible glimpse at a family business already thinking about its next generation.

These photos show a car show held right here at Perkins, but the date has been lost somewhere along the way. Judging by the vehicles, clothing and surroundings, we think it may have taken place sometime in the 1980s—but we aren’t certain.

Motor City, then and now.

We found this undated aerial photo of Colorado Springs’ Motor City area. Our best guess is that it was taken sometime in the late 1980s or early 1990s, but we’d love some help narrowing it down.

Compare it with the same area today. The buildings, roads, vehicles and surrounding city have all changed, but Perkins has remained part of the Colorado Springs community through it all.

From the Perkins archives: 1996.

The Dodge Neon was already a familiar sight on the road, while the Plymouth Prowler was giving us a preview of one of the boldest production cars to come out of the decade.

Two completely different vehicles, but both are unmistakably products of their time.

It got us thinking: If you could bring back one discontinued vehicle and put it back on the market today, what would you choose?
