Oil inside an electrical connector is never a good sign.

In this case, the oil pressure sensor has failed internally and is allowing engine oil to travel through the sensor and into the electrical connector. What may look like a simple oil leak can actually turn into an electrical problem if the oil continues to wick into the wiring harness.

Oil contamination can affect the sensor signal, cause intermittent warning lights, and in some cases travel farther down the harness to other connectors.

Having an oil pressure warning light or seeing oil around a sensor? Let us take a look before a small problem turns into a bigger one.

We are hiring a Master Automotive Technician/Mechanic.

$37-47/hour

**Location:** Winner Auto Center – 3400 N. Cocoa Blvd, Cocoa, FL 32926

**Schedule:** Monday–Friday, 7:30am–5:00pm (weekends off)

Winner Auto Center is a family-run independent repair shop known for quality work and a friendly atmosphere. We’re seeking an experienced master technician to help guide our shop and team.

Responsibilities

-Diagnose and repair a wide range of domestic and Asian vehicles
-Perform routine maintenance and major repairs (engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, etc.)
-Lead by example with high-quality, efficient workmanship
-Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers
-Stay current with automotive technology and training
-Help foster a positive, collaborative shop culture

Qualifications

-15+ years of hands-on automotive repair experience
-ASE or OEM certifications strongly preferred
-Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
-Proficient with modern diagnostic equipment and repair tools
-Clean driver’s license
-Team-oriented with a positive attitude

It’s Tech Tip Tuesday! 👨‍🔧

Take a look at the tip of this fuel injector. That black buildup is carbon and fuel deposits, and on some injectors those deposits can interfere with the tiny openings that are responsible for creating the proper fuel spray pattern.

A fuel injector doesn’t just dump fuel into the engine. It has to meter a precise amount of fuel and atomize it into a specific spray pattern. When deposits build up around the nozzle, the spray can become distorted and fuel delivery can be reduced. That can contribute to rough running, misfires, poor fuel economy and increased emissions.

This is especially important on gasoline direct injection engines, where the injector tip is exposed directly to the combustion chamber and much higher temperatures.

If your vehicle is running rough, losing fuel economy, or setting misfire codes, the fuel injectors are one of the components that may need to be tested rather than simply guessing and replacing parts.

This is something you definitely do not want to find when taking a wheel off.

This wheel was missing several lug nuts, and the wheel studs had damaged threads. Lug nuts are what keep the wheel properly clamped against the hub. When they are missing or loose, the remaining studs and lug nuts have to handle forces they were never designed to handle.

Damaged threads can also prevent a lug nut from properly tightening and maintaining the correct clamping force. In some cases, the damaged stud needs to be replaced before the vehicle is safely back on the road.

If you notice a missing lug nut, loose wheel, or anything unusual around your wheels, don't ignore it. A quick inspection can prevent a much bigger problem.

🔧 Tech Tip Tuesday 🔧

This center support bearing has seen better days. The rubber isolator around the bearing is swollen, cracked, and starting to tear apart.

The center support bearing helps support the driveshaft and keeps it properly aligned as it spins. When the rubber deteriorates, the driveshaft can develop excessive movement, which can lead to vibrations, clunking noises, or a noticeable thump when accelerating or letting off the gas.

This is one of those parts that can look fine at a quick glance but tell a very different story when you get underneath the vehicle. Catching a worn center support bearing early can help prevent additional driveshaft or driveline damage.

**🔧 Tech Tip Tuesday 🔧**

This week we found a front differential leaking gear oil directly onto the exhaust pipe.

A differential is responsible for transferring power to the wheels while allowing them to rotate at different speeds during turns. It relies on thick gear oil to protect the gears and bearings inside. When a seal begins to leak, that oil level can drop over time, increasing wear and potentially leading to expensive internal damage.

When gear oil lands on a hot exhaust pipe, you may notice a burning oil smell or even see smoke after driving. While the leak itself may start small, it is important to have it inspected before the differential runs low on lubricant.

If you notice spots under your vehicle, a strong burning odor, or any unusual noises from the drivetrain, it is a good idea to have it checked before a minor leak becomes a major repair.

This is what happens when too much silicone is used to seal an oil pan.

The picture shows an oil pump trainer with pieces of silicone that have broken loose and made their way into the oiling system. When silicone is applied too heavily, excess material can squeeze out on the inside of the oil pan. Once it breaks loose, those pieces can get pulled toward the oil pump pickup screen.

That can restrict oil flow to the pump and potentially lead to low oil pressure and serious engine damage. Even small pieces can cause problems if enough of them collect on the pickup screen.

The right gasket, the right sealant, and the right amount of sealant matter. More silicone does not mean a better seal.

If your vehicle needs an oil pan gasket or has an oil leak, let us take a look before a small leak turns into a much bigger problem.
