Pontiacs of Central California is a car club specifically for Pontiac and GMC owners/enthusiasts We also attend the local Cruise Nights as a group.

We are made up of a group of people with various backgrounds who have one thing in common, we LOVE Pontiacs. We drive 'em, work on 'em, polish 'em, restore 'em, break 'em (even cuss 'em) and have a lot of fun doing it. Be it an old '52 Chieftain straight-eight, a new WS6 Trans Am, or anything in between. We are individuals, couples, and families that like to get together for a variety of activities. We host an annual judged car show and participate as a club in other local and regional car shows. We have informal BBQ Show and Shines and get together for Brunch and Dinner Cruises. The cars in the club range from Concours cars, daily drivers, drag racers and cars undergoing restoration. In 1977, Pontiac built something that made people stop and stare. The black and gold Trans Am Special Edition looked like nothing else on American roads. Its giant Screaming Chicken hood decal, gold pinstripes, snowflake wheels, and aggressive front end gave it a presence most cars could only dream of.

But times were changing. Emissions rules and rising insurance costs were squeezing muscle cars out of existence. Pontiac answered with its 400 cubic inch V8 and bold styling. Then Smokey and the Bandit made the car a legend.

Today, the 1977 Trans Am remains a symbol of an era when American cars had attitude. They simply don't make them like this anymore.

From CHERYL: The POCC October Ladies Luncheon was held at PF Changs in Fresno. It was Halloween themed and everyone had a spooktacular time!

Oh my gosh!! Cheryl decorated the table so cute and the ladies are darling. Look at those smiles. Only treats here.

The GMC Typhoon was proof that performance didn't need a sports car body. In 1992, this unassuming SUV packed a turbocharged 4.3-liter V6 making 280 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Car and Driver recorded a 14.1-second quarter mile, putting this boxy machine in serious sports car territory.

Built by Production Automotive Services, the Typhoon combined turbo power with all-wheel drive and a rear-biased torque split. But its incredible run didn't last. Just 4,697 examples were built across two model years before production ended.

That's what makes the Typhoon special. GMC created a performance SUV before the world was ready for one, and then let it disappear. Imagine what could have happened if they had kept going.
