# # # THE GAUGE DOESN’T LIE

If the temperature gauge starts climbing, you have two choices.

Pay attention...

Or pretend you didn't see it.

Covering the gauge won't cool the engine down.

Turning up the radio won't fix it.

And saying, “It'll probably be fine,” doesn't change what's actually happening.

The gauge isn't your enemy.

**It's trying to warn you before damage happens.**

God's Word can do the same thing in our lives.

Sometimes we read Scripture and it encourages us.

Sometimes it comforts us.

And sometimes...

**It tells us something we don't particularly want to hear.**

📖 **Hebrews 4:12 KJV**

*"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword..."*

God's Word doesn't simply tell us what feels good.

It reveals what's true.

Our attitude.

Our choices.

How we're treating people.

What we're allowing into our lives.

Where we're drifting away from God.

And when Scripture shows us something is wrong, the answer isn't to ignore the gauge.

It's to deal with what's causing the reading.

Is God showing you something you've been trying not to see?

Don't cover the warning light.

Don't make excuses.

Don't wait until a small problem becomes major damage.

Open God's Word.

Listen to what He's showing you.

Then ask Him for the strength to make the correction.

Maybe.

But before adding refrigerant...

LET’S FIND OUT WHY IT ISN’T COLD.

You turn the A/C on.

The fan blows...

But instead of that beautiful ICE-COLD air...

😑 LUKEWARM.

To the driver:

“My A/C needs charged.”

To a technician:

A technician may investigate:

Is the compressor operating correctly?

Are the cooling fans working properly?

💨 AIRFLOW THROUGH THE DASH

Is airflow weak, restricted or being directed incorrectly?

⚡ ELECTRICAL CONTROLS

Fuses, relays, sensors, wiring and control modules can all matter.

🔍 REFRIGERANT LEAKS

If the system IS low...

WHY?

🚨 HERE’S THE BIG ONE:

Refrigerant isn't fuel.

Your vehicle isn't supposed to simply “use it up.”

If the refrigerant charge is low...

There may be a LEAK.

Simply adding more without finding out why it became low may only hide the problem temporarily.

# # # DON’T SKIP THE PREP

Everybody loves seeing the finished product.

Fresh paint. Smooth bodywork. Clean reflections. Something that looks completely transformed.

But anybody who has done quality automotive work knows:

**The finish is only as good as what’s underneath.**

You can spray beautiful paint over bad preparation, but sooner or later, what was skipped underneath will show through.

Life can work the same way.

Sometimes we're asking God for the finished product while He's still working on the preparation.

“God, open the door.”

“God, give me the opportunity.”

“God, change my situation.”

“God, I'm ready for what's next.”

But maybe God sees something we don't.

Maybe He's still preparing us.

📖 **James 1:4 KJV**

*"But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."*

The sanding isn't the finished product.

The grinding isn't the finished product.

The primer isn't the finished product.

But every one of those steps matters.

Maybe the season you're in isn't wasted time.

Maybe God is working on your patience, character, discipline, faith, attitude, or priorities so you'll be ready for what comes next.

Don't rush God just because your life doesn't look finished yet.

👂 “MY CAR IS MAKING A NOISE.”

SQUEAK...

CLUNK...

CLICK...

GRIND...

HUM...

RATTLE...

That noise might be annoying, but to a good technician, it can also be a CLUE. 🔍

The first question isn't always:

“What part is bad?”

It's:

👉 WHEN DOES IT MAKE THE NOISE?

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

🛑 ONLY WHILE BRAKING?

We may start looking at brakes, rotors, calipers, hardware, suspension or wheel-related components.

↩️ CLICKING WHILE TURNING?

Now CV axles, steering, suspension and other rotating components may enter the investigation.

🕳️ CLUNKING OVER BUMPS?

Ball joints, bushings, control arms, sway-bar links, struts and other suspension components may need inspection.

🛞 HUMMING THAT CHANGES WITH SPEED?

Tires, wheel bearings and driveline components become part of the clues.

🔑 ONLY DURING A COLD START?

That's another completely different trail.

🔧 THE DETAILS MATTER.

When does it happen?

Where do you hear it?

Does vehicle speed change it?

Does engine RPM change it?

Does braking change it?

Does turning change it?

Does it happen hot, cold or both?

Every answer helps narrow the search.

⚠️ A NOISE IS A SYMPTOM.

IT ISN'T AUTOMATICALLY A DIAGNOSIS.

Replacing whatever part happens to be closest to the sound isn't proper diagnosis.

Listen.

Recreate the condition.

Find the SOURCE.

Then repair the actual problem. 🔧

So we plug in the scanner...

And it gives us the answer, right?

Not exactly. 🔧

Naturally, you want to know:

“What part do I need?”

But that warning light isn't a parts-ordering system.

And a trouble code isn't automatically a diagnosis.

🔬 WHAT YOUR MECHANIC SEES:

A scan tool may give us a trouble code.

That code gives us INFORMATION.

It can tell us what system or condition the computer detected.

Then the investigation begins.

A technician may need to look at:

📊 Live sensor data

🧊 Freeze-frame information

⚡ Electrical circuits

🔌 Wiring & connections

💨 Vacuum / air leaks

⛽ Fuel delivery

⚙️ Mechanical condition

🧪 Component testing

And most importantly...

HOW ALL THE CLUES FIT TOGETHER.

⚠️ HERE'S THE BIG MISUNDERSTANDING:

Imagine the scanner shows a code involving an oxygen-sensor reading.

That does NOT automatically mean:

“REPLACE THE OXYGEN SENSOR.”

The sensor may actually be reporting a problem caused somewhere else.

The CODE is a clue.

Testing determines the cause.

Replace the part mentioned in the code.

Didn't fix it?

Replace another part.

Still there?

Electrical problems can make a vehicle do some strange things.

Slow cranking.

Flickering lights.

Intermittent problems.

Things working one minute and quitting the next.

Sometimes people start replacing parts trying to solve it.

But then you find something simple:

**A bad ground.**

The power was there all along.

The connection wasn't.

That'll preach a little. 🔧

We can have Bibles in the house.

Know the right things to say.

Believe in God.

Go through our normal routines.

But if we're spending less and less time actually connected to Him, eventually it starts showing.

*"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you."*

God isn't asking us to maintain the appearance of faith.

He wants a relationship with us.

Prayer.

His Word.

Trust.

Obedience.

Time with Him.

Those connections matter.

How's your connection with God?

Strong?

Loose?

A little corroded from neglect?

Maybe you don't need some huge spiritual overhaul.

Sometimes in the shop, adding something new isn't the first step.

First, the old contaminated fluid has to come out.

You wouldn't keep pouring clean fluid into a dirty system and expect everything to magically become fresh.

Sometimes you've got to **drain what doesn't belong there anymore.**

Life can be the same way.

We carry old mistakes.

Old anger.

Old disappointment.

Old hurt.

Old plans that didn't work out.

And while we're asking God to do something new, we're still holding tightly to things He may be telling us to release.

📖 **Isaiah 43:18-19 KJV**

*"Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?"*

Maybe moving forward doesn't begin by adding more.

Maybe it begins by letting something go.

🔧 **TODAY'S SHOP CHECK**

Ask God:

**“What am I carrying that I need to release?”**

A grudge?

A failure?

Regret?

Fear?

Something you can't change?

Give it to God.

Learn from what happened, but don't let yesterday contaminate what God is trying to do in your life now.

🔄 ENGINE CRANKS BUT WON’T START?

Those may all sound like the same complaint...

“My car won’t start.”

But to a technician, they’re DIFFERENT CLUES. 🔍

A proper diagnosis may involve checking:

🔌 Cables, terminals and grounds
🔧 Starter circuit and operation
🧠 Electrical and control systems

🚨 A SYMPTOM ISN’T A DIAGNOSIS.

Replacing a battery because the vehicle won't start isn't diagnosis.

# # # SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO SHUT IT DOWN

In the automotive world, we understand that even a well-built machine isn't designed to run nonstop.

Heat builds. Parts wear. Fluids need checked. Eventually, you shut it down and give it a rest.

But sometimes we forget that **God didn't design us to run nonstop either.**

Work. Bills. Family. Projects. Phones. Responsibilities.

There's always something else that needs done.

And sometimes we're so busy keeping everything running that we forget to stop long enough to spend time with the One who keeps **us** running.

📖 **Mark 6:31 KJV**

*"Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while..."*

Even Jesus told His disciples it was time to step away and rest.

Rest isn't quitting.

Rest isn't weakness.

And rest isn't laziness.

Sometimes rest is simply trusting God enough to realize the whole world doesn't depend on us keeping the engine running.

Spend some time with God.

Spend some time with your family.

Put the phone away for a while.
