Lake Snakes Cobra Club

We are the Lake Snakes Cobra Club. We are a dedicated group of performance car lovers with a particular fondness for the Ford Cobra and the Ford GT40.

We are located in northern Ohio near Lake Erie.

We had our August 29 club event today which was planned and conducted by members Kurt & Sherry. The event started by assembling at a meeting spot in Independence Ohio. By the time we were ready for some driving, 18 Cobras were ready to go. We departed in two groups to better manage the traffic although most of the driving was in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park which contained some of the best driving roads. We all arrived at Sarah's Vineyard for our lunch stop before heading home. Thanks again to Kurt & Sherry for a great day of Cobra driving and fellowship!

Our club member Joe is working on a unique top for his Factory Five cobra. We are very impressed with his fabrication abilities! The top will provide shade for those hot summer drives and also some protection when caught in the rain! Two piece construction permits trunk storage as well. High speed driving test to follow. 😀

Ron & Sarah invited club members to their home for a "pot luck" meal on Saturday July 25. Many thanks for their hospitality and a nice afternoon to socialize with cobra friends. Grandkids took full advantage of Sarah's secret big bubble mix as well.

A warm summer evening on July 20 was a perfect time to exercise our favorite cars, stop for a treat at DQ Grill & Chill in Berea Ohio, and even play some miniature golf. Summer's going too fast!

We met at Mavis Winkle's Irish Pub in Twinsburg Ohio for our July club dinner. Great east side location to share with our cobra friends!

21 year old "Snake IZ ( #11) got a new set of plugs, new spark plug wires after one shorted out, two replacement fuel filters, and some work on speedometer issues. Work was done just in time for our Monday July 6 ice cream drive to Olympia in Strongsville. Even the weather cooperated! Fun times with Cobra friends!

Here is a photo of the Lake Snakes Cobra Club group at this years London Cobra Show. CSX 4500 (Dragon Snake) was on display in the hotel lobby. It appears to be a copy of the original (1966 Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake (CSX3015). Two cars were built powered by 800hp twin supercharged 427 cubic inch Ford V8 engines. After a fatal accident, only CSX 3015 remains and is one of the most valuable American cars.

Our members Pete & Kathy planned and led a drive to the west of Cleveland on Saturday June 20th. The first stop after leaving their home in Vermilion was at Schoepfle Gardens which is a part of the Lorain County Metro Parks. The drive continued west to Thunderbird Hills Golf Course in Huron Ohio where they shared a meal at the Bar North Restaurant & Patio followed by an ice cream stop. Thanks Pete & Kathy for a fun day!

I recently had a starting issue with the Cobra. Took Pat out for a 30 minute ride for a nice dinner and returned home with no problem. When back in the garage, the car would not restart! Club member Ron stopped over for some trouble shooting in his Cobra Daytona. We had good spark and the fuel pump was building the correct fuel pressure. Since I am still trying to optimize the Holley Terminator X tuning, I did a TPS (throttle position reset) which is involved with ignition and fuel injector control. This did the trick and I took Ron out for a test drive to be sure. You're never done learning with these cars!
