Bruiser Conversions began its life as Jeff’s Jeep Yard in 1984, a salvage yard for Jeep vehicles. After a few years of reselling parts, Jeff established a fabrication division. Initially, he needed it to reconstruct sheet metal for bodies, repair structural issues with frames, and rebuild crossmembers and motor mounts. Necessity turned into a passion and Jeff started customizing the shape of vehic

les, bringing them to life in a reimagined form. Form and function are the foundations of a great vehicle. Jeff started specializing in conversions using Chevy small block engines with modern electronic control systems, integrating them into the Jeep Wrangler CJ models of the era, and it grew from there. He developed a process to create reliable, high-power engine kits for his reimagined vehicles. Through the years, Jeff has led his team building bespoke restorations, restomods, hot rods, street rods, muscle cars, jeeps, mud trucks, amongst other creations, that perform just as good as they look. Bruiser Conversions’ clients love it, and we do too. Almost four decades along, and Bruiser Conversions is as passionate about our work as ever—excited for new coachbuilding projects, the new technologies to integrate into our builds, and the new opportunities and experiences the vehicle’s owner will get to enjoy. The seamless, factory-style functionality complements the kick-ass performance and award-winning form that makes these vehicles amazing to drive and highly collectible. It is the nearly-40-years of ideation, design, fabrication, and integration experience that our clients trust to turn their desires into drivability.

**Teaser drop on the ’64 Tempest.**

This build is getting a Hellcat engine, 8HP90 transmission. No standalone, just modern Mopar power and 8-speed behavior brought into a classic platform with native communication from GPEC2A with use of factory harness.

More to come as we dive deeper into this build.

LS platform + ZF 8HP swaps are changing the game.

Our LS to 8HP adapter package helps bring modern transmission performance to platforms that never came with it.

Fast shifts. Better drivability. Modern feel. 👌

The 1964 Tempest is finally starting to come together. 👀

Modern power. Modern drivetrain. OEM style integration.
Classic GM A-body meets next-gen performance.

Still a lot more coming on this build… but the vision is getting real.

In this video, we’re breaking down our LS and LT engine to ZF 8HP transmission solution at Bruiser Conversions, running on the Chrysler GPEC2A ECU.
We go over how our system allows you to run an 8HP behind an LS or LT platform with full OEM-level control, eliminating the need for standalone transmission controllers or complex CAN translation setups.
Our goal with this system is simple... deliver a solution that behaves like it came from the factory, while still supporting high-performance builds.
If you’re considering an 8HP swap for your LS or LT build, this will give you a clear look at how our setup works and what it offers.

We’ve got two builds in the shop right now that pretty much sum up where things are headed…
A 1964 Tempest GTO
A 1968 Charger
Both getting full Dodge Hellcat engine power… paired with an 8HP.
But here’s the part people don’t usually talk about
it’s not just about making them fast, it’s about how they drive.
Most swaps get the power right… and miss everything else.
Harsh shifts, gear hunting, no real torque management.
We’re focused on making these feel like they came this way from the factory.
Modern performance. OEM behavior. Classic platforms.
So what would you do
keep it original, or go full modern?

1968 Charger Hellcat Redeye 8 HP90. We will be building a custom harness for the B body cars and running this on our GPEC 2A stand alone system. We have our QA1 suspension Arriving today so we will keep everyone posted. It still always amazes me how many parts can come off of one car..

Introducing our newest Project Bruiser Hellhound to display the Capability of our newest system. Our standalone GPEC2a setup for the Hellcat 6.2L engine paired with the 8HP95 transmission and transfer case (T-Case) is a clean, factory-like solution—especially if you’re emphasizing simplicity, full adaptive shifting/learning, and no aftermarket tuning when using all-Chrysler software + our custom harness. In your Hotrod ,Classic car, Resto-mod or Truck.
This approach leverages the original GPEC2a PCM (Powertrain Control Module) from a Hellcat/Redeye/TRX donor, often “virginized” or unlocked, combined with our harness that keeps the engine and transmission talking on the Chrysler CAN bus without any dependency on the rest of the vehicle’s modules.

Most 8HP swaps still rely on standalone controllers, CAN translators, and patched-together solutions…
We took a different route.
GM platform converted from DI ➡️ full port injection
Paired with our 8HP70 adapter system running OEM-style control
No standalone. No hacks.
Just a drivetrain that actually works together.
Who here has struggled with 8HP swap control? 👇

Happy Hump Day, People!

Today we’re diving into our LS/LT to 8HP conversions and the different options we offer to properly operate the ZF 8-speed behind a GM platform.

This setup features a 2016 JK running a GPEC2A controller, paired with our fully integrated in-house Bruiser harness. The result? You retain full factory Jeep functionality while delivering the precise communication needed to operate the 8HP exactly how it was designed.

At the end of the day, there is no better operating system for the 8HP than the factory ZF software within the controller that was built to run it.

At Bruiser Conversions, we focus on seamless integration—no compromises, no half-measures. Just clean, OEM-level performance with the power and reliability you expect.

From mild to wild—we make it work.

Stay tuned… more to come 🔧

At Bruiser Conversions, we’ve developed a fully OEM-controlled 8HP swap solution that eliminates the need for standalone transmission controllers, CAN translators, or modified valve bodies.
Most 8HP swap setups today rely on workarounds—resulting in inconsistent shifting, poor torque management, and drivability issues.
We took a different approach.
Our system uses a factory Chrysler GPEC2A ECU with a fully integrated OEM-style harness, allowing the transmission to operate exactly how it was designed from the factory.
✅ No standalone controller
✅ No CAN translation
✅ No valve body modifications
✅ Full OEM adaptive learning
✅ Smooth, factory-like shifting
This isn’t just another swap solution—this is true OEM integration.
If you’re building an LS, LT, or Gen 3 HEMI platform and want your vehicle to drive like it came that way, this is the solution.
