Michigan total loss dispute?

If you and your insurer can’t agree on your vehicle’s value (or repair costs), Michigan’s appraisal clause (MCL 500.2833) may allow either side to demand a formal appraisal.

You choose an independent appraiser. The insurer chooses one. Those two select an umpire. If two of the three agree, that sets the final, binding Actual Cash Value (ACV).
