And then we found the damage… 💥👀

The 6.7 Cummins teardown continues, and the borescope inspection revealed there’s more going on inside this engine.

After the brake-cleaner ingestion event, knock, rough running and black smoke, we’re now finding bent push rods along with damage visible inside the cylinders.

We’ve already found stretched injector hold-down bolts and evidence of fuel and oil getting past the injector copper washers.

Now we’re digging through the fuel system, filters, injectors and valvetrain to put the whole story together.

We found something… but we’re not done looking. 👀

The 2021 Ram 3500 6.7 is getting torn down after ingesting a soaking-wet air filter saturated with brake cleaner and developing a knock, rough running, and black smoke.

Today we pulled the injectors, fuel system components, rocker box and intake system.

Two injector hold-down bolts were stretched, and both injectors showed oil and fuel past the copper sealing washers.

But here’s where it gets interesting…

Tomorrow we’re putting a camera through the injector openings and looking inside every cylinder.

We’re going to see what that engine is telling us.
