This is one of the most common things we check for and it's almost always straightforward to fix, so take a breath.
A soft or spongy brake pedal usually means air has gotten into the brake lines somewhere, or the brake fluid level has dropped low enough that the system can't build full pressure the way it should. Sometimes it's a slow leak at a line or a caliper, sometimes the master cylinder is starting to wear internally and letting fluid bypass where it shouldn't. Occasionally brake fluid just absorbs moisture over time and that changes how it behaves under heat.
All of these are things we can diagnose pretty quickly.
The important part is don't sit on it too long because brakes are the one system where waiting can turn a small, affordable repair into a bigger one, and more importantly your stopping distance matters every single time you drive. Bring it by when you can and we'll take a look, top things off if needed, and tell you exactly what's going on before we do anything else.
