This Automotive Service Professionals Month, we're proud to recognize Steven Chowining, Fleet Maintenance Coordinator, Truck, supporting our clients on the road.
Steven started in the industry in 2012 on the fuel island at Ryder—pumping diesel, handling tires, and taking on light mechanical work. Two years later, he worked his way into the shop and continued building his career from there. While he'd been turning wrenches for years, he chose diesel because it offered steady opportunity and a strong future.
What keeps him engaged today is simple: technology. As vehicles and maintenance systems continue to evolve, Steven brings the curiosity and discipline it takes to keep fleets moving.
His advice for fleet administrators is practical and hard-earned:
"Never skip PM work. You might save a few dollars and a couple hours of down time today, but you're going to pay for it later. And when you start treating your fuel in the winter, swap out your fuel filters—there's nothing worse than a gelled-up fuel filter on a 10-degree morning."
Thank you, Steven, for your growth, grit, and commitment to preventive maintenance that protects fleet uptime.
