Zakira's Garage Zakiras Garage specializes in collector and enthusiast car maintenance, repair and rejuvenation.

Our business was started to work on a private collection but over the past two decades our work has changed to primarily motorcars for regular clientele. The core of our work lies in restoration but requests for regular maintenance has developed a service side of the business as well. Our racing heritage is an important aspect of what we do, ranging from engine dynamometer testing to full motorcar development.

It looks like a 1970 Datsun 1600 Roadster, and it is. But it isn't running the engine it left the factory with. It was already swapped when our master mechanic Eric Zwart found it, and that engine is the whole reason he wanted the car. It revs to 8,000 rpm and has people asking if it's a two-stroke.

Michael Kelly has been the VIP driver, the tech guy and pretty much everything else the Bellefontaine Hillclimb Revival has needed, eight years running. His read on it: relaxed, low pressure and built for actually enjoying your car, not squeezing out every last tenth.

The best part might be what happens after hours: drinks, stories and catching up with people who show up year after year. Even the town notices. The Cobblestone Hotel was 70% sold out the night before this year's event.

In his words: sitting on a fence hurts. Sitting in your car seat is a lot more comfortable. Come see us.

This one goes deep on the eighth annual Bellefontaine Hill Climb Revival — 110 participants, 415 laps up Corkscrew Hill without incident, and the story of the man who spent seven years bringing it back to life. If you've ever watched from the roadside or run the hill yourself, this one's for you.

We’re out at the Bellefontaine Hill Climb right now and it’s a good one. Pausing to share a few quick unedited pics from the paddock while the next group sets up.

We’ve been volunteering at this one 7 out of its 8 year revival. British classics, hot rods, vintage racers even a few wild cards all taking their run up the hill one at a time.

The good stuff’s still coming. We’re putting a special feature video together, so keep an eye out in a couple weeks.

1984 Volkswagen Scirocco wearing a period-correct Kamei X1 body kit.

This Mk2 stopped by Zakira’s Garage for some of the usual Scirocco needs and a full once-over before driving season kicks off. Keeping these analog-era, CIS German classics sorted out and on the road is something we enjoy doing. Cars like this are getting harder to find—especially ones that still capture the spirit of the era so well.
