🚨 Let’s talk ceramic coatings. 🚨
“The dealership said they can do the full exterior AND interior coating in one day”
Here’s me shaking my head knowing that there is no way that’s being done correctly, especially with only one person working on it. Now this is not a dig at anyone who details at a dealership as they’re only doing what they’re taught and told.
There’s a big difference between having a dealership “ceramic coating” installed and having a true professional ceramic coating installed correctly. Now obviously not all dealers are the same, but this holds true for many.
A lot of dealerships offer what they call a ceramic coating, but in many cases it’s actually a ceramic sealant. There’s nothing necessarily wrong with a sealant, but it’s not the same thing as a true professional-applied coating.
At 715 Auto Detailing, we don’t just wash the vehicle and put coating on top of it.
The preparation is a huge part of the process.
We thoroughly wash and decontaminate the vehicle, remove embedded contaminants, use iron remover, clay the paint, and inspect the paint before coating. Depending on the condition of the vehicle, a 1 or 2 step paint correction will be done to remove swirls, minor scratches, oxidation and other imperfections before we permanently lock the finish in with a coating. Which we request to have your vehicle for 3 days just for the outside.
Then we apply a true ceramic coating designed to chemically bond to the paint.
The goal isn’t just to make the vehicle shiny when you pick it up. It’s to properly prepare the paint and give it long-term protection, easier maintenance, improved gloss and hydrophobic properties.
That’s why two vehicles can both be advertised as having a “ceramic coating” while having completely different results.
The product matters. The preparation matters. The application matters. And who is doing the work matters.
If you’re considering ceramic coating your vehicle, make sure you ask exactly what product is being used, how the paint is being prepared, whether paint correction is included, and how long the coating is actually designed to last.
