Moore’s Customz Airbrushing and Paint Lifelong Artist (est. 1987) | Specialized in Automotive, Moto, Firearms & Murals. 40 years of fine art & tattoo precision. Self-taught. Moore Standard Quality.

Formerly managed by the Director of the Moody Gallery (UA). The Moore’s Customz Philosophy: Art Without Borders
At Moore’s Customz, we believe a canvas is anything with a surface. My journey started at 12 years old, rooted in the discipline of Fine Art and the precision of Tattooing.
About 15 years ago, I brought those worlds together when I moved back to Ohio and transitioned fully into the airbrush. Today, that lifetime of experience is what fuels every project that rolls through our doors—from Automotive and Motorcycles to Firearms and Large-scale Murals.
Why we focus on the process:
Precision Background: The steady hand required for tattooing is the same hand that ensures your "glass-like shine" is flawless.
Fine Art Vision: We don't just paint parts; we create compositions. Every hand-sketched layout is designed to flow with the specific lines of the machine.
Legacy in Motion: I’m now passing these decades of cross-industry secrets to my son, who has been apprenticing under the "Moore Standard" since he was 12.
We aren't the loudest shop in the room, but we are the most dedicated to the craft. If you want art that carries a lifetime of history, you’re in the right place.

Poor man ways, Dip Can.

A stencil does the work for you. An empty dip can off the bench is just a zero-dollar pocket compass to mark a circle on a curved fender.

Once that tin moves, every shadow and quill you see is 100% freehand trigger control. It's just tattooing metal—no plotter vinyl, no hard paint ridges fighting the clear coat, just letting the paint find its own way.
Bury it in gloss clear and bolt it back on the bike.

Poor man ways,

People see paint-covered bottles sitting on my bench and think it's just a mess. Truth is, you don't need to order expensive stencils when the layout tools are already sitting right in front of you.

Misting a little color around an ordinary bottle cap gives you a soft circle foundation without leaving sharp ridge lines that fight your clear coat later. Need a straight line? That’s what a wrench or a screwdriver is for. From there, it’s just trigger control and muscle memory to lay down the details, bury it in clear, and bolt it back on the bike.

Five-figure finish, zero dollars in extra tools.

Poor man has poor ways!

You don’t need a wall full of expensive laser-cut stencils to lay down clean geometry. A roll of tape, basic hand-eye coordination, and letting muscle memory take over will get the job done every single time—and it doesn’t cost you an extra dime.

Building graphics in organic layers gives depth that stiff plastic templates just can't match. Once it's cleared and mounted back on this Indian, nobody is asking what tools were on the bench.

Are you a fan of using whatever’s lying around the shop, or do you rely on laser-cut stencils and plotters?

The real secret to custom engine covers isn't just the artwork; it’s the clear coat. Raw plastic is porous, meaning oil, dust, and engine bay heat bake right into the surface. Automotive clear completely seals those pores so dirt has nowhere to stick.

Would you buy a vehicle that’s already wrapped?

Buying a wrapped car, truck, or bike carries real risks. Vinyl can hide deep scratches, dents, rust, burnt clear coat, or bad body repairs underneath. You never really know what’s under the surface until you peel it—and by then, you’re looking at bodywork and a full repaint bill.

With custom paint and airbrushing, there are no secrets. Everything is sealed, visible, and built to last. This Harley trike was painted 8 years and over 40,000 highway miles ago. A quick wash and a pass with a buffer, and it shines right back up to date one.

Does a vinyl wrap help or hurt resale value on a vehicle?

A lot of folks see clean, sharp stars on curved tins or a helmet shell and assume there has to be a stencil hiding somewhere.

In reality, it’s just trigger discipline and air control. Dual-action control: push down for air, pull back for paint, and let muscle memory do the carving. On compound curves, vinyl masks can wrinkle or bleed under the edges. Doing it freehand lets every star flow naturally with the body lines of the tins.

Once your hands understand that needle control, it carries straight over into memorial portraits, fabric, and shadows—layer by layer.
From raw bench work to a full finished ride. No stencils, no tape lines. Just letting the airbrush find its own way under automotive clear.

Most folks don’t know what raw airbrush paint actually looks like before the clear coat hits it.

On the bench, automotive basecoat dries flat and chalky. The blacks look like dusty charcoal and the highlights sit quiet. But if you can capture the depth while it’s still flat, you already know that once the gloss hits it, the soul of the piece will jump right out.

Think of it like picking up a dry stone out of a riverbed—it looks dull in your hand until you drop it back in the water. Automotive clear pulls all that contrast right out of the shadows, deepens the black, and gives the soldier and wings real life.

100% freehand. No tape, no stencils.

Anything But Normal

Painting flat sheet metal is one thing—spraying a curved leather top hat is a whole different story.

Leather flexes and absorbs paint completely differently than steel. You have to map the white foundation carefully along the contour so the creature doesn't stretch or distort as it wraps around the crown. Once the foundation is locked, it’s just building the slime green, detailing the teeth, and letting the character take over.

Just let happen

A dark panel isn't empty—it's just quiet. When you start on pure black, you don't fight to create shadows because the board already gave them to you.

In your mind, you just place an imaginary light bulb hanging high up on the right. Everywhere that glow would naturally touch gets a soft mist of white; everywhere that turns away, you leave in peace. No rush, no forced features—just building delicate layers until the cheekbone rises and the expression looks back at you.

Dropping in the crown of thorns and carving out that quiet silhouette of the cross and chopper at the bottom brings the whole story home.
100% freehand. No stencils, no tape—just letting the paint find its own way out of the shadows.
