FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
David Tarter Memorial Set for Saturday Night June 6

CHICO, Calif. June 1, 2026 – This Saturday night, June 6th, the Silver Dollar Speedway will host the annual David Tarter Memorial. Tarter, a Chico native, passed away on June 8, 2012, at the age of 30. Since then, Silver Dollar Speedway has hosted this event in his honor. Tarter was a rising sprint car star who in 2011 captured the coveted Rookie of the Year honor at the Speedway.

His parents, Howard and Shelly, continue to be instrumental in helping with the event. “It’s hard to believe it’s been 14 years since we lost David,” said Howard. “We are thankful that his home track Silver Dollar Speedway still remembers our son and the love he had for sprint car racing.”

The NARC King of the West 410 sprint car series will race in honor of Tarter. Joining them are the popular Nor Cal Dwarf Cars.

Justin Sanders comes into the event as the odds-on favorite. Sanders has won three of the last five Tarter events including leading all 35 laps during last year’s race. Sanders is fresh off his win during the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial held at Chico on May 9th. Sanders has scored five NARC 410 King of the West wins in 2026 and holds a commanding 153-point lead over second place Tim Kaeding.

Sean Becker, who is sixth in NARC points, was the original winner of the Tarter Memorial in 2013. More recent winners include 2023 winner Shane Golobic and 2022 winner Corey Day.

Pit gate will open at 2 PM. Front gate is set to open at 4 PM. Kids 12 and under are FREE. Tickets for this race can be purchased by following this direct link: https://silverdollar.ticketspice.com/david-tarter-memorial-2026

Back on March 6th, Shawn Whitney gained four spots to win the first Dwarf Car race of 2026 at Chico. The following night it was Anthony Pope who passed eight drivers to get the win. This Saturday will mark the third and final appearance of the season at Chico for the Nor Cal Dwarf Cars.

The NARC 410 stars and cars will return to Chico for the Gold Cup Race of Champions starting with the Thursday night August 27th race and concluding on August 29th.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Austin Wood and Jason Clayton Win at Chico

CHICO, Calif. May 23, 2026 – Austin Wood picked up his second win of the season at Silver Dollar Speedway by capturing the 25-lap winged 360 sprint car main event. Wood earned his first win on March 7th at the Silver Cup. Tonight, Wood took the lead away from Shane Golobic on lap 10. A solid turnout of 32-winged 360 sprint cars came to race during the Saturday night fair spectacular.

Golobic led the race from the start. Golobic found trouble on lap 15 when he drifted off the edge of the racetrack. Golobic never stopped, kept going, and remerged back on the track in the eighth spot. Andy Forsberg was able to move into the second spot after Golobic slid off the track. Once Forsberg was in second, he tried his best to close in on Wood.

Behind the top two were Landon Henry and Tanner Carrick. These two drivers put on a back-and-forth clinic that thrilled the enthusiastic fair crowd. On the final lap, Carrick passed Henry for third place. On the final lap Golobic passed Chance Grasty for fifth place. Landon Brooks charged from 17th to eighth. Ryan Bernal slipped into seventh at the finish line.

Shane Golobic started the night off by qualifying the fastest in group A. His lap time was 11.671. Austin Wood turned the quickest lap in group B at 11.876. Golobic was awarded the fastest lap overall and won two large pizzas and $200 from Bodega Slice Co. in Chico.

Steel Powell looked sharp and won the first eight lap heat race. Chance Grasty earned the win during heat race two. Max Mittry won heat race three by over five seconds from the nearest competitor. Andy Forsberg picked up the win during the fourth and final heat race.

Jason Clayton earned a hard-fought win to pick up the 20-lap Rental Guys Hobby Stock main event. The Hobby Stock main event had three different leaders over the 20 laps. Jacob Bright started the race as the leader. Phillip Shelby emerged as the new leader on lap four. Five laps later, a mechanical issue sent Shelby to the pit area. Bright regained the lead. The next four laps were as good as it gets when it comes to Hobby Stock racing. A total of 6 different drivers had the chance to win the race. On lap 16, Clayton passed Bright for the lead. Bright’s car slowed down and he was passed by Zach Lindgren and hard charging Howard Law.

Clayton, Lindgren, and Law raced as close as it got those final three laps. Clayton was able to hold off those two and pick up the impressive win at Silver Dollar Speedway. Lindgren was second and Law third. Paul Stephens came from the last row to finish fourth. Toby Merrifield rounded out the top five. Merrifield was one of the drivers in contention to win but on lap 16 did a half spin into the turn one berm. He regrouped and charged his way back to fifth.

Kyle Cheney won the first heat eight lap heat race. Clayton held off Howard Law to win the second heat race. Clayton pulled off the clean sweep by winning the heat and main event. A total of 19 cars showcased their skills tonight.
