The number one place motorcyclists are dying in single-vehicle accidents is running wide in corners.

The number one place motorcyclists are dying in multi-vehicle accidents is unmarked intersections in which the motorcyclist has the right of way.

This risk can be drastically reduced in both situations by using the brakes correctly.

Covering the brakes dramatically reduces your reaction time if a car pulls out in front of us. At 60mph we are traveling 88ft per second. If it takes us .5sec to get our fingers up to the lever, we are now 44ft closer to the incident and more likely to be abrupt with the brake input. The tire will take a tremendous load, but it will not take an abrupt load.

Radius = MPH. Our cornering radius is directly tied to our speed. If we enter the corner too fast, if the corner tightens unexpectedly or an obstacle is presented mid-corner and we cannot accurately and safely control our speed in the corner, then we are out of control in the corner.
