As Brake Safety Week comes to a close, the importance of brake inspections and maintenance continues year-round.

This week served as a reminder of the critical role brake system maintenance plays in keeping commercial vehicles operating on the road. Regular inspections of brake drums, rotors, and other brake components can help identify wear before it becomes a larger issue.

If you're looking for additional brake drum resources, technical literature, or support, Motor Wheel is here to help.

The most common cause of improper brake drum mounting is failing to locate one hub pilot pad at the 12:00 position. This causes the drum to sit slightly cocked, a condition that is frequently mistaken for an out-of-round drum.

Always start with the hub pilot at 12:00, slide the drum into place, and verify it is fully seated before reinstalling the wheel and tire.

The carousel below provides a step-by-step look at proper CentriFuse® brake drum installation, from hub alignment to final torque.

⏰ Reminder: Re-torque after 50 to 100 miles, after tire changes, or anytime wheel nuts are removed.
