Hot-weather EV charging tips!
Summer heat doesn’t mean you should stop charging- it simply means a little planning can help your EV perform at its best:
- Plug in when needed, even on hot days. Your EV’s battery-management system helps regulate battery temperature.
- When possible, schedule charging during the cooler evening or overnight hours.
- Park and charge in the shade or a garage when available.
- For everyday driving, follow your vehicle manufacturer’s recommended charge limit, often around 80%. Save a 100% charge for longer trips and time it close to your departure.
- My favorite feature - Precondition the cabin while your EV is still plugged in. You’ll start your drive comfortably without using as much battery power to cool the vehicle.
At Carter Myers Automotive, our recommendation is that you check your owner’s manual or vehicle app for recommendations specific to your specific EV.
Stay cool and keep moving forward!

A reliable vehicle can mean the difference between simply getting by and moving forward.

Together with Giving Words, CMA set out to help seven single mothers across the communities we call home by providing dependable vehicles—and the opportunity that comes with them.

From the technicians that helped make each car road-ready to the associates who helped bring it all together, we had one goal: moving lives forward. Watch the full story and see what happens when care is put into action.
