When the data doesn’t make sense, don’t assume the component is bad.
An ABS reading of 316 mph is a good reminder that strange sensor data can often point to a wiring problem somewhere else in the circuit.

In this case, used the Power Probe ECT3000 Open/Short Finder to trace the ABS signal through the harness and narrow the fault down to a hidden broken and corroded wire in the pigtail.

That’s where circuit tracing earns its place: helping confirm where the signal stops before parts start getting replaced.

Bonding tests are a critical part of EV safety — and they don’t have to be complicated.
In this video, we show how to perform a bonding test with the PPEVTEST using the Kelvin-style clip lead set and the meter’s R4W mode.

The process is straightforward: connect the Kelvin clips between the high-voltage component housing and a chassis ground point, run the test, and compare the measured resistance against the OEM specification for that vehicle.

This type of test can be used on components such as:
• Battery cases
• Inverters
• Converters
• On-board chargers
• A/C compressors

A quick, simple way to verify that high-voltage components are properly bonded to the vehicle chassis.

50 feet of wiring. Multiple splices. One hidden short.
That’s exactly the kind of job where the ECT3000 earns its place in the toolbox.

In this video, J.O.A.T.D. puts it to work on a lifted truck after a wiring mistake in a 16-light rock light install created a short somewhere in the system.
Instead of pulling the harness apart and checking every splice, the ECT3000 helped trace the circuit and narrow the fault down to the exact area.

A broken wire you can’t see can still stop the whole circuit. ⚡
In this real-world diagnosis, David Merendino uses the ECT3000 Short & Open Finder to investigate a check engine light related to the lower air shutter circuit.

The harness showed signs of being pinched, and one section looked suspicious. The insulation was still intact, but the wire itself had actually broken inside.
Instead of assuming the rest of the harness was good, David connected the ECT3000 and traced the signal through the circuit.

By locking the signal, adjusting sensitivity, and following the harness, he was able to:
⚡ Confirm the initial broken wire
⚡ Check other suspicious sections without opening the harness
⚡ Verify continuity farther up the circuit
⚡ Confidently isolate the repair to the pigtail area
