This Audi is special.
Any new Audi in our inventory has technology that was shaped by decades of motorsport, but the RS 3 has a much more direct connection to Audi’s racing history.
In 1980, Audi introduced the original quattro. Its combination of permanent all-wheel drive and a turbocharged five-cylinder engine changed rally racing and became one of the most important chapters in Audi’s history.
The quattro name is still used throughout the Audi lineup today.
The five-cylinder is much more rare.
Audi has deliberately kept that part of its performance history alive in the RS 3.
Its 2.5-liter turbo five-cylinder uses the same 1-2-4-5-3 firing order as Audi’s original five-cylinder performance engines, which is a big part of what gives it that unmistakable sound.
And it does not just sound good.
It makes 394 horsepower, puts that power down through quattro all-wheel drive, and uses an RS Torque Splitter that can send power across the rear axle. In RS Torque Rear mode, on a closed course, it can even turn this 4 door sedan into a very effective smoke machine.
Then you can put it back into a normal drive mode and drive it to work.
That is what makes the RS 3 so special.
It is not just a fast Audi.
It is one of the few modern Audis that still carries one of the most distinctive pieces of Audi’s motorsport history under the hood.
